"It's not a no, but can I get back to you about it? Have to review my schedule with boss man."

Her words made his stomach turn, even now as he repeated the scene over and over in his head.

"You aren't actually about to go out with my fucking trainer are you?" The sharp tone in his voice caught Carson off guard as she turned to face him.
"Is that a problem?"
"Of course it's a fucking problem!?" Milo stood up abruptly, pacing around the room. He was thankful Gavin had left right after hitting on Carson, he would have not been able to keep his cool any longer.

"Are you that self absorbed and unprofessional? Or just fucking desperate?" Carson's jaw dropped as the words tumbled from his mouth. "Maybe all of the above then.." Milo scoffed, grabbing his keys from the counter he yelled out before slamming the front door. "And get the fuck out of my apartment!"

.....

"Ugh I'm such a fucking asshole .." Milo groaned into his hands. His friend Mason sat across from him, silently nodding his head in agreement.
"But come on! That's so... that's unprofessional right?!"

He had called Mason right after Carson left, at this point he was wondering if she would've even show up tomorrow.

"Bro.. Look their adults. They can date. Is it the best idea? Definitely not but it's a hell of a lot better for her to date him then to date you."
"Mace what the fuck!"
"I know you like her.. It's so obvious." Mason sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I know you like her.. but if you two ever dated. It would be one completely unprofessional and two a complete dumpster fire when you guys end up not working out."

Milo sunk back against his couch. His best friends words sinking in and confirming everything he was trying to ignore.

"Your right." The words were barely whispered causing his friend to frown. He didn't think he had ever seen his friend so down. Something wasn't adding up, Milo never let crushes get to him.

"....Did—Did something happen between you two?" Mason sat up, seeing his friends cheeks flush. Milo was terrible with lying.

"We.. Fuck she made me promise to never say anything !" Milo groaned but he was dying to tell someone.
"Okay yeah no you need to spill."
"We kind of hooked up..  earlier this year.. on my birthday." Mason's eyes went wide, completely flabbergasted that his best friend could keep something so huge to himself for so long.

"Fuck this is way worse than I thought.. You have like actual feelings for her!" Instead of arguing with him, Milo only brought his hands back up to cover his face.

He was so screwed.

...

The door quietly opened and closed with a click. Milo felt his heart beat in his throat as his eyes fell on Carson. She whispered a good morning before walking towards her makeshift office.

His stomach dropped as he saw her look so, defeated? She wasn't her usual spunky self...
He was honestly expecting her to scream at him.. not this.

Fuck. Screaming at him he could handle.. but what the hell was he suppose to do about this?

...

A knock on his bedroom door nearly made him have a heart attack as he realized it was Carson. She had been communicating with him by email and text all morning, even though she was just down the hall..

He knew she was busy and all trying to rebrand him and save his career but.. She had never pushed him away like this. No matter how annoyed she was with him.
No matter how much she hated you.. The thought crept into his mind, making his stomach flip.

"It's about time for lunch, want anything? Gavin will be here at 1 for your session." Milo winced as her voice even sounded off.

"Carson.. can we talk? About yesterday—"
"—Milo it's fine, you were right—"
"—Don't you fucking dare agree with me!" Milo seethed, he wanted her to fight back not agree with him. The Carson he knew didn't just back down.

"Then what do you want me to say!" Carson threw her hands up, what the hell did he want from her?!

"That your pissed off.. that your upset.. that y-you hate me anything but whatever this is.. Please." Her lips parted as she stared at him in shock. Her heart hurting for him as the words echoed in her head from that last time she said them. I hate you.

"Milo.. I— I don't hate you." Carson found herself tugging the younger guy against her. Arms slipping around his torso in attempt to comfort him.
"I told you I didn't mean what I had said."

She may not hate you but doesn't mean she likes you..
Milo willed his inner thoughts away but as usual they were too loud.
..She doesn't like you like she likes Gavin.

"You should go out with him." The second the sentence left his lips it left a terrible taste in his mouth but he knew it was for the best. Carson stepped back to look at him for more confirmation.

She will never see you as anything else.. Other than a night she regrets.

"Y-you think I should?"
"If you want to.. yeah you should at least see what he's like.." Milo muttered looking at her with a blank stare. She nodded but didn't press it any further.
"Okay, I'll think about it. So what would you like for lunch?"
"Maybe a fruit bowl?" Her eyes went wide as he shrugged. "Honestly not really hungry.. a fruit bowl is fine."

"Oh okay I'll be right back."

...

Milo listened to Carson and Gavin talk, he had his door open pretending he had gone for a shower. Which he would do since he was covered in sweat but he needed to hear them.

He wanted to bang his head against the door, hearing her happy and laughing because of his stupid trainer.

Gavin sure had a great body but the guys personality sucked. He was thee most boring guy Milo had ever met.

He was boring but overly nice.

You deserve someone nice Carson..

He sighed pushing away from his door and heading into his bathroom to actually shower. This Friday was going to suck. He decided then he was going to stay in and drink until he passed out.

His thoughts would be too focused on what her date was like and if she invited Gavin back to her place afterward..
