What. The. Fuck?!
Like actually what the fuck?!
Milo mentally groaned, pulling at his hair in frustration. He had been pacing the hallways for the last fifteen minutes. This was as far as he got on "his walk".
"Such a fucking idiot.." He breathed out lowly, letting his forehead softly bang against the nearest wall. Maybe he was being dramatic or maybe he wasn't being dramatic enough..
I need to get a grip.. There was too much on the line.
Carson would eventually get sick of his shit. He would eventually force her to quit, then what? How would he explain that to his mom and find a new person to manage the mess of his life that he created?
When did life get so fucking complicated? After five more minutes of self loathing in the hallway he shoved himself off the wall and made his way back to the apartment.
Taking a deep breath, he hoped he didn't look as frazzled as he felt. Shoving his key into the lock and turned the handle.
Carson wasn't anywhere in the foyer, living room or kitchen as he passed. The light sound of nails against keys of her laptop sounded in the hallway leading to both their rooms. Her door was open, which meant he couldn't pass her room without being seen.
Plan A, hide and pretend nothing happened was now no longer on the table. Which meant Plan B address the situation and apologize was now in action..
He wasn't loving that plan."Hey.." Carson greeted him as be awkwardly stood in her doorway. At least she was smiling.
"Sorry about.. about that." Trying to find the words he suddenly wished he would've actually rehearsed a apology in his head.
"Actually Car.. Fuck I'm sorry about everything." Her eyes widened in surprise, an apology was the last thing she expected from him. Looking at him standing in her doorway looking as lost as he did made her heart hurt. She found herself standing up, her mind reeling.
"M-Milo.. are you okay?" His eyes were watery and cheeks flushed. Milo was never one to get emotional or at least not while he was around people. She frowned as he only nodded in answer to her question. He took a step back the closer she got and that's when she noticed his chest beginning to rise and fall rapidly.
"Shit—Hey what's going on?" She was quick to grab his forearm, afraid that he might try to run away again."I—I can't do this right now." He struggled to get the words out. "Go home for the rest of the day." Ripping his hand out of her soft grip and he didn't turn back. His long legs carried him to his room and he locked the door faster than she could react.
Fuck.. this wasn't good. Carson thought as she stared at his door. She had never seen him like this.
What was going on?
Anxiety bubbled up in her chest. Should she go home? She really felt like it was a bad idea to leave him alone but she also didn't have any other options. He had sent her home for the day and she wasn't sure if staying and forcing him to talk to her would actually improve anything. She was torn.
Taking out her phone she pulled up a number from her contacts. Her fingers hovering over the call button. Before she hit the green button though she quickly went back into her room. Grabbing her laptop and bag before quietly letting herself out.
Once she was out in the hallway and heading to the elevator she slide her finger across the call icon."Hey Mace? Yeah it's Carson.. I know this is weird of me to ask but is there any chance you could come over and check on Milo?... No he's—-hes fine .. sort've— I just would feel better if a friend could check up on him. I think somethings going on.. Okay thank you— oh but Mace? Could you not tell him I called you? ...Okay thank you so much! Bye." The call ended and she let out a sigh as she shoved her phone back into her pocket. Praying everything was going to be okay and that maybe, she was just over reacting.
...
Carson wasn't sure what to expect as she made her way inside the apartment. To her surprise, she was met with the back and forth of the best friends as they played video games.
"Your fucking cheating Mace!" Milo's laughter cut through the air like music to her ears. She missed hearing that laugh.
"Dude you just suck at fortnight!" Mace shook his head continuing to focus on the game in front of them. Truth was Milo did in fact suck at fortnight. He was always dying.
"Oh hey Carson." Mason smiled at the familiar woman standing by the living room entrance. Milo did a double take not realizing his manager had been standing there for however long.
"G-good morning Car sorry I—I didn't even see you." Milo stood up abruptly, tossing the controller down on the couch. Mason had to bite down on his lip to stifle the laugh threatening to come out. His friend had it baddd.
"It's all good boss, did you guys want breakfast or anything? All I had was some emails to get back to.. oh and I had somethings I wanted to go over with you." Milo made his way over to her as she flipped her laptop open. He didn't mean to stand as close as he was but he couldn't help it. Carson could feel his body heat against her back, his cologne taking over her senses. Temporarily making her forget what she was doing.
"What's up?"
"So I was looking at all your head shots and everything the management company had been using as part of your acting profile.. I think it's time for some new head shots and content." Carson made a face as she pulled up head shots from when Milo was fifteen. Back when he was sporting some high lights... So many highlights.
And was also half the size he is now."Yikes.. wait—they were still using these? What the fuck.." Milo groaned, cringing at the images on the screen. It was right after he got the role of Zed, he had to do a photo shoot since he wasn't exactly trying to be a actor at the time. He didn't even have a head shot or actors bio.
"I mean these were like the last updated ones.. Not terrible but I think these have been circulating a bit too long." Milo rolled his eyes as Carson giggled, she was referring to the photoshoot he did during DWTS. They had talked him into going shirtless with nothing else but a leather jacket and jeans.
"Hey I'm hot and look at my abs."
"Ehh they look a lot better now, pictures would look even—-it— I— they would look better." The words were out of her mouth faster than she could process that she did in fact just say that out loud. She made a mess of her words at the end in attempt to save face. He tilted his head to catch the blush on her cheeks. She could feel her heart in her chest, his breath against her ear.
"And why's that Car?"
"N-no reason.. J-just a feeling." Quickly she closed the laptop and squeezed herself out from between him and the kitchen island he managed to trapped her against.Suddenly Mason's voice cut through the air making them both spin around. They had totally forgotten about other company.
"So, we grabbing some breakfast or what? I could totally smash a couple of chick fil a breakfast sandwiches right now.." A knowing smirk lingered on Mason's face making both of them blush a bit."Wanna grab a bite to eat with us?"
"Sure, why not?"
