Milo nearly choked on his water as he saw assistants placing name cards out for dinner. He promised his mom he would come but he didn't expect her to be on the list, let alone rsvp yes.Hurrying up the stairs he decided he should probably shower and shave.. and actually put on deodorant.. he thought as he got a whiff of himself.
He couldn't look like a complete mess in front of her.Shredding his clothes he got into his shower, thinking back to how he had taken Masons advice.
Let her come to you.
She hadn't..
But maybe, just maybe this was the universe giving him an opening.
He shaved his the stubble and hoped he looked half way decent in his tan pants and a long sleeve white v-neck sweater.
Making his way down the staircase he was thinking of what who he could talk to, to pass the time but suddenly his eyes found her. His quick steps slowed and he felt his heart thundering in his chest.
Of course she was on time if not early.
How very Carson of her..
"Milo!" Martha's voice caught his attention, quickly he finished coming down the stairs to join the few people that came early.
"There's our teen heart throb!" Gushed Martha only making him blush, out of the corner of his eye he saw Carson's face twitch but wasn't sure what to make of it."Martha!" He pulled her in for a hug, saying hello to the other guests before he was finally face to face with Carson.
"Hey Car.." Milo softly greeted her, hoping they could at least get their night off on the right foot.
"Hi Milo." Her soft smile made his heart ache, his instincts were to grab her and kiss her until she gave in to him but the many watching eyes had him on his best behavior. He really needed to be mature about this if he was going to hopefully get some answers tonight.
"You look great." Slipping his arm around the small of her back he gave her a half hug. "Milo could you come help me say hi to the Henderson's?" Camryn patted Milo, before heading over to the guests."Duty calls but see you around." He joked only to do as he was told. It was honestly great timing on his mom's part. He was starting to panic about word vomiting everywhere.
....
The evening went on and it was surprisingly nice and uneventful, Carson thought as she brought her wine glass to her lips.
Milo was asked to play a few songs on the piano by guests. Something he always seemed up for but tonight he kept making excuses that he was rusty.
To be honest, Carson couldn't remember the last time he even picked up his guitar let alone took a seat at the bench."Come on now's not the time to hide." She gave him a look. Milo shook his head with a nervous grin, clearing his throat before giving his glass to Mason.
"What does the lady want to hear?"
"I think there is a particular song from lalaland that you know by heart.." Carson reminded him, only to receive laughs from the other guests. To everyone they probably seemed friendly, cordial even. Especially since no one else knew what had occurred between them besides Camryn, Liz and she could bet he told Mason..Milo grinned at her, she only held up her glass in a mock toast as he looked like he had to recall the familiar notes. Carson watched as his fingers began to move. Like anything she saw he was nervous but as soon as he nailed the first few notes, his confidence grew and he was instantly back to being Mr. Perfect.
