Isere hicupped. She lifted her face up to meet the pastor's and he repeated his question for her again in case she wanted to act deaf.
"Who is the father of your child?" He asked, his eyes not leaving hers making the knots in her belly to tighten. Isere swallowed a painful lump in her throat, that it almost choked her. She wasn't expecting pastor Fredrick to catch her so easily.
She had mix feelings. She didn't know whether to tell him or lie but the fact that she lied against her father to protect herself was something she never planned until today.
She was still in awe of her mother's past and how notorious her mother was. Never had she pictured her mother in that way before.
She felt hurt that she had to suffer for her mother's past mistake, she felt hurt that they had used the wrong ways to train her although they had the right reasons at heart.
She was glad she had pulled this stunt or else, she'd be thinking of the consequences of getting an unexpected pregnancy and continue to suffer as usual.
"I am disappointed!" Isere deadpanned.
"All my life, I was deprived from everything. I neither had a mother to talk to me in a loving manner and a father to tease and listen to me, I always felt I was alone and on so many occasions I wished I never had any parent," Isere spat out, she wanted to let her feelings known, to let her parents know what they had put her through.
"I always cried whenever I got locked in and left alone, I got scared most times and wanted to run away. I never had the chance to be like other teenager for once, I never had the chance to tease my parents and make them shout at me and it hurts whenever my friends spoke of their relationship with their parents."
"It hurt so much that I couldn't tell my mother anything because I knew the outcome was never going to be in my favour." Isere sniffed.
"The one time I snuck out to a party and was caught, I was called the child of the devil and beaten mercilessly, I even had to go through the virginity test..." Isere trailed off.
She wiped the tears which were threatening to roll down with her thumb. "Who uses egg to check if their daughter was a virgin? Who uses such stuff knowing how dangerous it could be?" Isere scoffed.
"She didn't do that once, she did it whenever she felt like, putting an egg in the entrance of my vagina to see if it'd fit in easily and it hurts whenever she did that, I'd cry because it was bad!" Isere cried out.
"It always hurt to be in a situation like that, it wasn't a comfortable situation and it was an embarrassing one!" Isere cried out.
Pastor Fredrick sighed and Mrs Williams clicked her fingers, "What century do you live in? How could you use such method?" Mrs Williams asked.
"It is well, I'm glad to hear from all party and I must say I am really disappointed in pastor Osagbai and pastor Mrs Osagbai for their training considering they were people of God."
"Katherine, I am really sorry on there behalf and I'm sure they regret their actions," Pastor Fredrick spoke.
"But you also had a role to play, why didn't you consult or tell anyone about what you were going through? Why didn't you tell the church?" Pastor Fredrick asked.
"I was scared, I felt I'd obviously not be heard or taken serious considering my parents position in this church. I was scared of speaking up." Isere muttered.
"It is well, you got pregnant knowing well that it'd be a difficult situation on you, then why did you involve in sexual intercourse?" Pastor Fredrick asked.
Isere took a deep breath, "Getting pregnant wasn't my intention, at first I wanted to have sex because it was part of those things my parents forbade me from doing but when I finally had sex, I didn't do it for them but for me, for love," Isere explained.
"Love? Hmm," pastor Fredrick sighed.
"Why did you lie on your father?" Pastor Fredrick asked.
Isere didn't know what made her lie but she did and did not regret it and she was glad she did or else, she wouldn't have gotten to know the reason for their strong walls.
"I did it because I wanted to create a scene and to make issues for my parents, at first I didn't know what made me do it but pastor sir I don't regret it," Isere spoke.
Isere turned to her father, "I am really sorry sir," she went on her knee facing her father who showed no facial expression as he was pained.
Pastor Fredrick intervened. "What you did was wrong and lieing on the man who brought you to this world is a big sin, but everything will be fine because you all have realised your mistakes."
"I would like to bring peace unto this family with the Lord's help and once again make your family whole. Mr and Mrs Osagbai, the deed is done and I'm sure everyone of you have learnt your lessons from this." Pastor Fredrick started.
"I would appreciate if you use this moment to settle things and start again for where there is hope, all is not lost."
"Please forgive Isere, Mr and Mrs Osagbai; and also Isere forgive your parents for their Ill treatment towards you. Join your hands with me, let us pray."
"We are grateful o Lord, we are grateful o Lord . For all you have done for us, hallelujah, we are grateful o Lord."
"Our heavenly father, ancient of days, we thank you for your grace upon this family...."
"For in Jesus name I have prayed, amen." Pastor Fredrick concluded.
"Kindly hug each other," Pastor Fredrick said to them all and they did as told.
"God bless you all and I am grateful all is well with your family, and I'd appreciate, you use this holiday to mend broken hearts and get to bond better."
"Thank you so much pastor for this, we are so much grateful," Isere's father said.
"Thank you so much sir, God bless you. Thank you Mrs Williams, God bless you all," Isere mother said.
"Thank you so much for the help, God bless you all," Isere said to both pastor Fredrick and Mrs Williams.
"And also I'd like to ask who the father of the child is," Mrs Williams spoke.
Isere smiled, "My boyfriend!" Isere whispered.
Isere mother was beyond shocked when she heard Isere say the word boyfriend, she couldn't believe it.
"Does he know?" Isere's mother asked.
"No, I just found out." Isere said.
Isere mother wasn't comfortable with the fact Isere had a boyfriend and to top it all was pregnant and for all she knows the boy might runaway.
"I want to speak to him," Isere's mother deadpanned.
"What?!" Isere gasped.
