Isere belly had grown really big that it was now obvious she was pregnant. Her legs didn't fit in her slippers no more that she bought bigger slippers because of it. She selected the beans from the tray as she put them in a bowl. She heaved a deep sigh as she kept doing that. She wanted to eat porridge beans and plantain and she didn't want anyone making it for her. She didn't like someone buying food for her neither cooking for her because she wouldn't eat it and according to the doctors, it was normal considering her hormones. She had the worse attitude and lately he got even worse as almost everyone were mindful or what they said and did around her.
Kelvin had to stuck in a lot of foodstuffs so that she would be contented. He had began to attend law school in Abuja. He chose Abuja instead of Lagos because his brother resided there and he told Isere to reside in his house while he was away so he wouldn't be too bothered.
He made sure to call her with every chances he got because the last time he didn't call her till night, she cried, telling him he was cheating on her reason he forgot to call her. He knew it was her hormones affecting her so all he did was apologise.
He told his brother he got a girl pregnant which was an unexpected blow to him and before he left Lagos, he visited her parents and expecting a lot of insult and lecture from them turned out to be the opposite. They were nice and asked him of his plans for her.
The situation happened suddenly and the fact he was going to be a father gave him mixed feelings as it was unplanned but neither the less he told them he'd take responsibility.
His mother was so against isere considering the fact she wasn't of a Yoruba descent and when his father heard he impregnated a girl, it became an hot topic for the first two weeks until his older brother intervened and spoke to his both parents. Isere didn't know of any of this as he didn't tell her.
Ejiro opened the door, she was holding a chicken republic nylon in her hand with a smile on her face. "Whats up preggy," Ejiro teased isere with her new nickname for her. Isere paid no attention to her as she picked her beans.
"You see your life. Let me come and help you pick...but only after I'm done eating," Ejiro said to Isere. Settling down in the chair as she placed a stool in front of her to put her food on them.
All the while Ejiro spoke to Isere, isere said nothing to her. Ejiro didn't let that affect her as she knew isere's pregnancy hormones were the worse. She would most times insult her for no reason and once they both almost fought because isere promised to slap her if she didn't leave he sight.
Kelvin had to beg her to tolerate isere for his sake. Most times Wunmi visited her to check on her but isere would act as if Wunmi wasn't around. Isere had the worse attitude while she was pregnant. She found almost everything irritating and would only realise her actions after hurting the other person. She cried unnecessary and was extremely suspicious of everything and everyone. She would rather wear Kelvin's clothing's than hers and would sleep till she was hungry.
"Isere better do and give birth because you are annoying as it is," Ejiro muttered but isere heard her. Isere began to him in her head, she didn't feel like speaking because all she could think of was eating porridge beans.
There was a knock on he door, Ejiro got up from the chair to see who it was. "Good afternoon," Wunmi greeted Ejiro. Ejiro let her in and isere let out a loud hiss.
Both Ejiro and Wunmi looked at each other with a frantic expression on their face before hiding their face to laugh. They found it funny because most times she acted like a crazy person. Since it was her third and final trimester, it got worse.
"Kate how are you?" Wunmi greeted. "I am fine, did I tell you I was hurting?" Isere asked. Wunmi smiled, it was so weird that Isere mood was the worse. Both Ejiro and Wunmi had never experienced a reaction like Isere's from any pregnant woman before.
"I'm just asking, sorry," Wunmi apologised.
"I did not fall so no need to tell me sorry," Isere voiced out. Wunmi took in a deep sigh before walking to get water for herself. Wunmi suddenly noticed something, making her halt, "Isere did you pee on yourself?" Wunmi asked noticing water on her legs.
Isere let go of the beans as she looked at herself, then reality dawn to her. "Her water broke!" Ejiro gasped.
Kelvin arrived at Osun the next day after Ejiro called to let him know Isere was in labour.
When he arrived, he was so worried, he paced back and forth while waiting for the doctor to come tell him everything was fine.
"Congratulations, She has given birth to a baby girl," the doctor's voice got Kelvin's attention. His eyes widened and a smile crept to his face.
He shook the doctor with happiness. Ejiro and Wunmi were overwhelmed. After a long wait, Isere gave birth successfully.
"Can I go see her?" Kelvin asked. The doctor nodded his head and they all went in to see her.
Kelvin heartbeat with joy as soon as he saw isere and his daughter in her arms. A smile on isere face as she stared at her daughter.
Kelvin moved towards get and hugged her. "Thanks so much!" He couldn't contain his joy. He kissed isere on her cheek, forehead and on her lips before taking a look at his daughter.
"My world," he muttered as he stared at his daughter.
"I love you so much. I love the both of you!" He exclaimed.
"My happiness. Happiness will be her name." Kelvin declared and isere nodded her head.
