Dedicated to blarkkittyKelvin took the final step and just as his lips were about to touch hers, his phone rang.
Shit! Kelvin muttered under his breath as he involuntarily dropped Isere to her feet slowly. Isere bit her lips as she looked at the floor trying to control her beating heart.
Kelvin walked up to where his phone was and picked the call, "Speak up wunmi," was what Isere heard before Kelvin walked off.
Wunmi?! Could that by chance be Ewawunmi? Isere frowned.
That girl seemed to always get in the way. Isere suddenly felt the urge to leave, the rain had stopped falling already and was just drizzling.
When Kelvin came, he watched her awkwardly as he didn't know if he should just claim her lips like he wanted to or just scratch it off since the mood was ruined already.
"The rain stopped falling, can you take me back to my hostel now?" Isere asked avoiding eye contact with Kelvin.
Kelvin looked at his wall clock, "You can't, it's past ten already, stay here for the night and tomorrow I'd take you back to your hostel," he told her.
"I don't wanna stay here!" Isere spat out without realising she had raised her voice. Her action shocked Kelvin.
If there was one thing he observed about Isere was that her mood was sure to swing unexpectedly. "It's past ten and it's not safe to drive now," he spoke with a calm voice.
Isere mumbled before walking pass him and sitting down on the couch, "Where do I sleep, I'm sleepy?" She asked him not meeting his eyes.
"Did I offend you?" He asked Isere, what could possible go wrong? What could he have done to make her angry.
"I want to sleep. where do I sleep?" She asked him.
"I will show you," he replied as he led her to the room she had woken up from two months ago.
"Where is your room?" A guest room wouldn't be so much invested in this way, how come there was tv inside of it, she thought.
Does he have guest often? She thought. Have Ewawunmi been here before?
There could be a chance that Ewawunmi has been here before and probably on this bed. She wouldn't dare sleep on this bed if so.
"Do.. you have ...guest often?" She asked him stuttering.
He was taken aback by her question, Isere was confusing him, one moment she was lively and jovial and the next minute she was angry and distant.
"Do you...often....like...do you...have guest often?" She stuttered again.
"My friends stay here most times," he replied her wondering the reason behind her question.
"Male...or female?" She asked him stuttering.
"Why are you asking?" He asked. She was really confusing him and what was the reason for her questions.
"I will sleep in the living room, I don't know how many ladies have slept on this bed," she spat out muttering them without realising she was speaking out loud.
"What?!" He asked raising his brows.
"Ladies?!" He chuckled. He was suddenly starting to know where she was going to and what was behind the reason for her questions. What does she take him for? A womaniser? Was she jealous? He thought.
"What's..what's funny?" She asked him.
"This is my room and asides Banji and Jide, no other person has been here. The room down the way on the opposite side is my guest room and that's where Banji and Jide stays when they come over." He spoke.
Isere suddenly felt ashamed for asking such question and acting stupid, obviously he must be getting tired of her childishness, she thought.
She bit her lips in embarrassment and looked at the lines of the tiled floor.
"Sleep here, I will sleep in the guest room, Goodnight," he told her before walking off.
What has she done? She asked herself. Kelvin has been nothing but good to her but because of Ewawunmi, she was acting different, probably childish.
She couldn't sleep, she tossed around the bed thinking of her childish attitude earlier, what would Kelvin think of her?
She decided to go make amends with him before tomorrow or else she won't be able to sleep.
Isere opened the guestroom door after knocking but opened to see no one on the bed. She could hear faint noise from the television which meant he was in the living room.
Isere saw Kelvin who was watching a football match in the television with a system on his lap. He was typing on the system so seriously.
Isere walked silently towards him but made her present unknown. She watched the way he typed fast and how handsome he looked.
It was the first time she had seen him with glasses, and he looked hot in it. Kelvin wasn't aware of Isere presence until he stretched his hands and observed he wasn't alone.
He smiled when he saw her standing close to him, it was obvious her bad mood swing was gone.
"Hey," Isere greeted, she felt warm when she saw him smiled, which meant be wasn't mad.
"Hi," he replied, taking the system from his lap and placing it on the table. "You couldn't sleep?" He asked her.
"Uhm," she told him. "Why are you still up this late?" She asked him.
"Being a law student isn't easy, i have an assignment to do but procrastinated it because I had to take you out," he told her.
"Wow...you left it for me knowing well that tomorrow is the deadline..." Isere stared at Kelvin. He was really stupid for doing so she thought but at the same time it was a sweet thing.
"Don't ever do that, that's stupid of you to forget your assignment all because you wanted to show me Erin ijesha...." She trailed off. "Not as if I am our girlfriend," she whispered.
Kelvin chuckled, "Your mood swings a lot you know that? And besides I did mine already, just helping someone," he told her caressing her cheek.
A friend, who could it be? "Ewawunmi?" Isere asked
"Yes," he told her shrugging it off.
"Whateves!" She spat out and walked off.
"What did I do again?" He asked but she refused to reply him.
"Women!" He muttered.
Thank you.
