Derek was a handful.
"Alice, don't play with your brothers dirty diapers!" The blonde barked, running after the little hell raised, "no no no! Don't throw it! No! Alright, all of you in the sink right now!"
A smug appeared on Aria's lips as she relaxed back on the lounger in her backyard in Chewa Island. Today was Mother's Day, which meant that it was her day off and Serena's day in.
She sipped Margaritas in the sand, soaking in the bright sun rays, it had been almost two years since Serena stepped foot in the Chewa Island and Aria couldn't be more grateful for her help with her little monsters.
Alice was six and Derek, almost two.
The Mother's Day holiday tradition in the Van Black household was started two years ago, when Alice was almost four and Derek was still inside Aria. Of course she couldn't lay outside in the sun sipping alcohol but Serena's non-alcoholic drinks were just as good.
Aria shifted comfortably on her rug, trying to soak as much rays she could and try not to think about the story behind Alice's beady bracelet which sat upon her wrist.
It had been two years since Alain was...
No, she said, no sad thoughts Aria, you have Alice, Derek and most of all Serena, happy thoughts, happy.
Happy thoughts did come, she had so many of them that Aria had lost count. Most were with Alain and the rest with her chubby children and Serena, the nanny she didn't have to pay for.
Aria wished for the moment to last forever and for life to stay exactly how it had been for the past few years ever since Serena had landed on the island, tired and broken. But Chewa Island was famous for making one's trouble go away in a jiffy, it had done so with Aria and now, Serena.
Melodious laughter of her little monsters filled in her ears as she took another sip, her body tanning under the rays of the strong summer sun. Aria felt at peace after a long time, there was quietness and harmony.
However, it didn't last for long.
Aria's eyes sprang open when a certain shadow engulfed her, blocking the path of sun rays. Sudden windy air started to blow which knocked the straw hat off her head.
Aria cried for Serena as she ran away from the jet.
A sudden heartache spread throughout her body as the design of the jet became clearer. Aria knew the model and the pilot. It wasn't anyone hostile, it was someone she knew.
But that was the problem.
The last she'd seen of Ash Ketchum was when he came with Charlus and told her Alain was dead. The same old familiar heartache came rushing back like a tsunami wave.
The only thing which kept her from falling over was the reassurance that Alain was already dead, he was at peace and nothing could harm him.
He was dead.
Its wasn't Ash, but Gary who stepped down from the jet, dressed in a green T-shirt which brought out his Viridian eyes, his brown cargo pants were creased and his shoes had centuries of dirt on them.
"Gary," Aria croaked, "wh-what are you doing here?"
Gary tried to give her a smirk but what came out was a sad smile, a smile of sympathy. Aria had always hated those.
"Is Serena here?" He asked.
Aria started at him for a moment and then towards the jet behind them, a certain yellow mouse Pokemon was visible through the looking glass but his trainer was nowhere to be seen.
