Title: Weasleys
House: Hufflepuff
Hermione and Ron had liked each other for years, they had both told you about their feelings for the other every so often, gossiping about how they felt like it was some kind of secret that nobody could ever see. You on the other hand knew all too well that the two would end up together, your heart shattering each and every time you listened to them babble on about the other. You had noticed the signs in first year when you became friends with the two separately, only to later find out how close they were. Unfortunately, you had feelings for Ron since you had first met, you had known him for years due to your family tie with the Weasleys; in fact, you could recall the two of your families going to watch Quidditch games together, though you mostly hung out with Charlie as he'd tell you about dragons and other times you'd be with the twins pulling pranks on everyone.
Even though this was the case you had never seen eye to eye with Ron or interacted with him for more than ten minutes before Hogwarts. He needed your help finding classes as he seemed to always be late, sometimes he'd be with Harry which was always fun. You could hold a conversation with Harry, which at times was all you needed from someone. Hermione however could go on about how Ron had done something, Harry was hurt, class assignments or homework. It was fine, but after some time tiring and you would need breaks from her occasionally. She was a good friend to have, however, always knowing what spells to use or what to do to help you with class assignments you didn't quite understand.
Hermione had become your friend on accident really, you two were sat next to each other in some classes every year. Slowly developing a friendship that usually stayed inside lesson time, being in different houses didn't help with friendships at all. Really it made it hard to see people you enjoyed after classes without the risk of getting expelled. Therefore you didn't make much of an attempt to make many friends outside of Hufflepuff house. Even then you kept your circle small mostly speaking to only housemates who greeted you and the girls in your dorm room.
Your crush on Ron became apparent to you in fourth year after you found out he could have died in the Triwizard Tournament, you were so confused and thankful that he was alive. For the rest of the year, you unconditionally cared for him unlike anyone before, the butterflies in your stomach never resting when he was close to you. A couple of times people had asked you if you had feelings for him, noticing that you'd turn red if he complimented you or if his hand bumped yours. Continuously you denied these questions as you didn't want anyone to tell him.
Just like any normal day at Hogwarts you went to your classes, same uniform, same hairstyle as you always had. Keeping things planned or low maintenance always helped when it came to the school, you never had as much time as you thought you did. With moving staircases, possible pranks or a hallway being cleaned at a bad time you were in for trouble if you didn't have a multitude of routes for each class. Which, you didn't. You took the same route to classes as you always did, glancing at the courtyard you loved so dearly before feeling a light tap on your shoulder.
"(Y/N)" a familiar voice spoke immediately causing you to whip around, "Ron! Hello" you greeted with a smile only for it to drop as you saw his expression. He looked lost like someone had stolen his thoughts, he didn't look like himself. "I have feelings for you" he spoke slowly, his tone slightly off, you froze in place not knowing what to do. "But... Ron... what about Hermione?" you questioned, not able to comprehend what was happening at that moment. All of a sudden it hit you like a ton of bricks as you noticed his hair turning slightly off colour "How dare you!" you screamed, tears streaming down your face as you ran away from the person. 'I can't believe it how dare someone use polyjuice potion to pull such a vile prank.' you thought to yourself as you scurried to the owlery, your favourite hiding place.
Climbing the stairwell you planted yourself next to your pet owl, (Owl Name), she let out a squawk when she noticed you. Her brown feathers flapping lightly as you greeted her with a stroke to the beak "Hi there" you smiled, you knew she couldn't understand what you were saying. Sometimes it was a good thing, she could listen for hours and she would still treat you the same as before. Ranting softly to the small creature you watched as she looked at you confused, not knowing what troubles you were facing.
Not hearing the footsteps of a particular set of twins entering the owlery staring at you from across the room, glancing at each other before making their way over to your (h/c)haired self. George crouched down ruffling your hair slightly "Ello (n/n)" he smiled widely at you, "boy troubles ey?" Fred chuckled before crouching down like his twin. Looking between the two in shock for a second you realised what they'd heard, your cheeks burning red. "Keeping it between us I think Ron doesn't just have eyes for Granger, right Georgey?" Fred looked at his brother with a grin "yup" George confirmed chuckling slightly. "W-what" you spluttered, your eyes wide as you looked at the red-haired boys. "Yup you heard us" they responded in unison, "best be on our way though" George started being cut off by Fred "Only came here to see why someone was babbling about our brother" shaking your head in confusion you watched at the two left the owlery.
A couple more months of school had passed, strangely like the twins said you noticed Ron seeming less romantically interested in Hermione, actually, he seemed to stop talking about her entirely. Unless it was complaining, even then it was minimal. Instead, he talked about this different girl he had developed feelings for, he wouldn't reveal her name, however. Just that she was beautiful, apparently her eyes shone under the starlight and she was not in Gryffindor. He'd gone as far as to nickname her after the first animal that came to his head, her nickname was (f/a). You had thought about this for some time however and decided it was just a coincidence that he called her after your favourite animal.
Hermione started to slowly drift from you, seeming to only spend her time with the two boys who had always taken up her time. It wasn't like you minded much, although you missed sitting next to her in D.A.D.A and your other classes. Even though her lack of contact with you was weird enough, you had occasionally caught her staring at you with what seemed like rage. You didn't have the guts to ask why, you didn't think about it too much. Simply you respected her decision for her to have her own space.
You were sitting in the library, reading a book on transfiguration when you heard someone clear their throat in front of you. Ron was staring at you, shifting his weight from one side to the other whilst looking slightly dishevelled. "(Y/N)... can you come with me somewhere private?" his voice was hushed as his eyes darted to look anywhere but into yours "Uhhh.. yes?" you replied, though it came out more like a question. Closing the book you put it back on itself, following Ron to wherever he was taking you. Questions continuously flew through your mind out of fear, 'what if this is a prank again'... 'what if he's telling me he isn't at all interested' and 'he hates me' were all reoccurring thoughts you had.
After a short while of walking, you found yourselves near to Hagrids shack, the entire stroll there had been silent with tension. "(Y/N)" his voice caused you to jump before you hummed giving a small nod for him to continue, "I have to tell you something that's been bothering me" he muttered as he looked down at the ground. "You can tell me anything" you tilted your head in curiosity, "actually... let me show you" he spoke softly before moving closer to you. Grasping your hand he pulled you close to his him, holding your head against his chest as one of his arms wrapped around your waist. You heard his heart pounding as if it was about to burst out of him. A small gasp escaped you as you realised what he was trying to say, "Ron..." you whispered subconsciously.
Slowly looking up at him you noticed his face had turned red, his blue eyes staring into yours. "You are (F/A)... you always have been, I was just too scared to tell you and i-" you cut the Weasley off with a soft kiss, holding his cheeks with your hands as gently as possible. When you pulled away you smiled, quickly kissing his cheek you whispered in his ear "I feel the same way..."
