Chapter 18: The Passenger

As they were riding back, You were in front holding the child as they were enjoying the air. You leaned into Mando, who just hummed in response. As they were approaching a path, You sensed it, you sat up still holding the child tightly

"Mando stop-"

Instant reflex you ducked down and Mando got pulled back, you and the child fall off the speeder to watch it crash and explode. You heard yells, Mando was fighting bounty hunters, You grabbed the child and crawled back

"Get the girl!" Yells one bounty hunter

Then two jumped down, they charge towards You, out of instincts you dodged their attacks, you only kicked and blocked as you kicked someone behind yourself, you blocked with your left hand and one of the bounty hunters grabbed it and twisted it. They knocked you off your feet and the child fell from your arms. One held your head down to the dirt, and another pulled your arms back causing you to scream and another held your legs..

"No-"

You managed to struggle enough to get a leg out and you kicked one hunter in the face, causing him to stumble back with that advantage, You tucked your legs in as the other hunter holding your arms back let go, you flipped yourself and kicked the one holding your head down. You then punched him causing him to knock out, and you sighed what you completely forgot about the other guy. That's when you feel a force blocking your airway, you gasped as you felt your neck to find some type of leather around it.

"Your our bounty dead or alive."

You used your force to bring a blade towards you, you slashed the man on his thigh and he yelled in pain, you cut the leather that suffocated you. You gasped for air, before the man can attack again Mando shot him. He went to your aid.

"Y/n- "

"The child!"

You both look to see a Jawa holding the child and holding a knife to his throat.

" Wait! Don't hurt the Child. If you put one mark on him, there's no place you will be able to hide from me. We can strike a bargain. There's a lot of value in this wreckage. Take your pick."

The Child coos, as the Jawa looks around and contemplates this. The alien looks over and notices the Mandalorian helmet lying in the sand.

"But leave the Child."

The Jawa was looking around, and pointed the knife to Mando, then he spoke.

"He wants your jet pack." You said

"Okay. Here. It's yours"

He slowly and cautiously sets the jetpack on the ground, stepping back.

"Take it."

The Jawa pointed the knife at both of them, he then let the child go as it ran to You, you lifted him up. The Jawa took the jet pack and ran. You stood up and the child coos

"Are you two alright ?"

You smiled

"Yeah where fine Mandi."

They soon began to walk.

They entered the saloon to look for Peli, who is seen playing cards with a bug. She then sees the trio and smiled

"I don't know. Looks like someone's gonna be goin' home empty-handed" she says
