Horses are all is heard coming into the castle after the men lost the prince. Lord Miraz was holding his new son, and heir to the throne on a balcony when he sees the men. He also sees a cloth over a lump on one of the horses. He thinks the worst, had his men really killed Caspian and brought him back in front of all these people? He hands the baby to his wife and goes down to the stables.
He marches into the room looking for the horse.
"Wait. Wait, my lord, it is not what you think." General Glozelle says, grabbing Miraz's arm.
"Then what is it?" Lord Miraz asks, his voice low and sharp.
"We're not exactly sure." General Glozelle says. He nods to one of the soldiers and the man removes the cloth.
"Impossible!" Miraz says in amazement. He looks at the general, obviously thinking of some plan.

"I warned this council when it put its trust in Lord Miraz," a man yelled, "there would be consequences."
"No. No, we can't accuse the Lord Protector without proof!" another man comes to Miraz's defense.
"How long are we going to hide behind that excuse?" another man, with long hair and a beard says. "Until every chair in this chamber is empty?"
Just then, the door opens to reveal Lord Miraz. The council of men quiets down.
"Lords of the council, my apologies for being late," Miraz says, walking to his seat. "I wasn't aware we were in session."
"No doubt you were otherwise preoccupied." the first man said. There was a pause.
"My lord?" Miraz asks.
"Ever since the death of Caspian the ninth, you've behaved as if you were king." an older man with whiter hair says, standing up. "And now it seems that from behind his walls, even Prince Caspian has gone missing!"
"My deepest condolences, Lord Miraz," the first man spoke again. "Image, losing your nephew, the rightful heir to the throne, on the very night your wife has blessed you with a son." the man accuses.
"Thank you, Lord Sopespian," Miraz says, "Your compassion is a boon in this troubled time."
"I trust you can tell us how such a tragedy could have occurred." the man -Lord Sopespian- says.
The door opened once again, this time, the council was interrupted by General Glozelle. Lord Miraz looked to him and the General nodded. Lord Miraz swiftly got up and began walking around the open floor.
"That is the most disturbing news of all." he starts. Lord Sopespian shifted in his seat.
"Our beloved Caspian was abducted," Lord Miraz says. A ripple of murmurs ran through the room.
"By Narnians!" Lord Miraz says facing the council. The men, who were just murmuring, began laughing at him.
"You go too far, Miraz." The older man says. "Expect us to stand by while you blame such a blatant crime on fairy tales?" he asks him. Miraz looked to Glozelle and lifted his arms, indicating the soldiers to open the doors. When the doors did open, the soldiers brought in a dwarf. The men stood up and started asked questions over each other.
"We forget, my lords," Miraz started. "Narnia was once a savage land. Feared creatures roamed free. Much of our forefather's blood was shed to exterminate this vermin." he says pointing at the dwarf, who is bound and gagged. "Or so we thought. But while we've been bickering amongst ourselves, they've been breeding like cockroaches under a rock!" Miraz yells. "Growing stronger. Watching us. Waiting to strike!" he emphasized his point by smacking the dwarf across the face, misplacing his gag.
"And you wonder why we don't like you." the dwarf says.
"Well, I intend to strike back," Miraz says, almost spitting at the dwarf. "Even if I have to cut down the entire forest, I assure you, I will find Prince Caspian and finish what our ancestors began."
The dwarf stares at Miraz, no one knowing what to say.
