About a week or so had passed, and Draco was seemingly not getting any better. It was 7:15am on a cool February morning when Blaise shook Draco awake. "Draco, wake up, we've got potions this morning" Blaise said softly. Draco opened his eyes momentarily then clamped them closed again. "Tell Snape I'm not well" Draco said, turning over so his back was now facing Blaise. "What's wrong?" Blaise questioned. "Nothing. I just don't feel like going, okay?" Draco spoke with an undertone of irritation, hoping Blaise would just leave him alone. "Okay" Blaise said, choosing not to get in an argument with Draco so early in the morning.
Once all 3 of Draco's room mates had left, he sat himself up and took a deep breath in. "This is too much" Draco sighed to himself, flopping back down onto the bed and closing his eyes.
An hour had passed when Draco heard the familiar click of the dormitory door. He thought it would be Blaise, coming to pester him to get up and go to his next lesson. Draco was wrong.
The dark figure of Snape walked through the doorway, stopping at the end of Draco's bed. "Mr Zabini tells me you are unwell, Malfoy" Snape said, clearly knowing Draco was lying. "Y-yes" Draco stuttered, a wave of fear coming over him. "You look fine to me" Snape replied, not being taken in by the poorly told lie. "I feel s-sick" Draco continued, not sure what the best thing to say at this point.
Snape looked at Draco for what felt like an eternity while Draco's heart rate began to rapidly rise. "Then we shall go and see Madame Pomfrey" Snape demanded. "It's not that bad" Draco admitted. "If it is bad enough to miss school, it is bad enough to go to the hospital wing. Up." Snape spoke authoritatively.
Draco knew there was no use arguing with Snape, unless he wanted to land himself a months detention, so he got himself up and headed for his wardrobe to pick out his clothes. "I'll wait for you outside" Snape said as he walked towards the dormitory door, not wishing to watch Draco undress.
Once Draco was dressed, he took another deep breath and headed out into the corridor where Snape was waiting. "Follow me" Snape instructed Draco.
The hospital wing was a good 4 minute walk from the dungeons where Draco slept. For the entirety of the walk Draco tried to plan what he was going to say to Madame Pomfrey, but he came up with nothing substantial.
"Professor Snape, Draco, how may I help you?" Madame Pomfrey asked happily as soon as they had walked into the hospital wing. Draco left Snape to talk, scanning the room back and forth to see who else was in here. Draco's eyes grew wide at the sight of Pansy sitting in a bed half way into the room. He quickly looked away, hoping she hadn't seen him.
"Is that right, Draco?" Madame Pomfrey asked the clearly oblivious Draco. "Sorry?" Draco said, a face of confusion. "You feel sick?" Madame Pomfrey clarified. "Oh, yeah" Draco replied unconvincingly. "Well, come and lie here and we will take a look at you" Madame Pomfrey said, pointing to the bed that was directly opposite Pansy.
Sheepishly Draco walked over to the bed and lay himself down. Pansy looked up from a book she was reading as she heard people in front of her and lit up when he realised it was Draco. "Hi Draco" she smiled. Draco politely smiled back, but refused to engage in any sort of small take, earning a sad frown from Pansy.
Madame Pomfrey raised her wand at Draco and cast a few charms to try and work out why Draco was feeling poorly, but nothing came up. " That's strange, nothing seems to be wrong, Draco" Madame Pomfrey said.
Draco looked from Madame Pomfrey to Snape, not knowing what to say. "Can you lift your top up please" Madame Pomfrey asked. Draco knew where this was going, and he hoped they would keep their voices down so Pansy didn't hear.
