Professor Lupin was in his office when he heard the light knocking on the door. "Yes?" Lupin spoke loudly so the person would be able to hear from the other side of the door. "It's me. Please can I come in?" Draco spoke quietly, not daring to open the door without permission. Lupin rose from his desk and confidently walked in the direction of the door, opening it slowly, revealing a disheveled-looking Draco.

"Is everything alright?" Lupin asked, concerned by Draco's demeanor

"Is everything alright?" Lupin asked, concerned by Draco's demeanor. "Not really" Draco sighed, dangerously close to a complete breakdown. "Come in. Let's talk about it" Lupin said warmly, standing aside so Draco could enter his office.

"I didn't know where else to go" Draco whimpered, not having thought about what he was actually going to say to Professor Lupin, merely seeking somewhere he felt safe. "Well, you know you're always welcome to come and see me" Lupin said, his worry intensifying as Draco continued to talk. "Snape's going to be furious at me this time" Draco admitted sadly. "I don't think that's true. What's happened?" Lupin asked, very skeptical at the idea that Snape could be genuinely angry at Draco.

Draco took a deep breath in then went on to explain to Professor Lupin how Snape wanted to take his nappies away.

"But, that's good news, isn't it?" Lupin asked, confused as to why Draco had become so distraught over this. "No" Draco said bluntly, upset that Lupin couldn't understand why he didn't want to get rid of his nappies yet. "So you don't think you're ready?" Lupin questioned. "I'm not" Draco replied, hoping Lupin would be able to see things from his perspective. "And did you and Professor Snape have an argument about it?" Lupin asked, realising now why Draco thought Snape would be angry at him. Draco nodded, not liking having to admit he'd been so unpleasant to Snape.

"Look, Draco, I know Professor Snape wouldn't have suggested taking your nappies away without good reason. If he thinks you're ready, then maybe we should be brave and listen. I really doubt he'd expect you to use the toilet if he didn't think you were ready" Lupin explained. He too thought it was about time for Draco to start moving away from nappies, but it wasn't a subject he felt comfortable broaching. "B-but what if I w-wet myself?" Draco stuttered, embarrassed at what he was saying. "That's not something you should be worried about. If that happens we'll get you cleaned up and into some dry clothes in no time and then we can try again" Lupin answered. He knew it was inevitable that Draco would have accidents initially, but that was something that was unavoidable regardless of when he started potty training.
