"So if you would all like to follow me, we will be starting in the Department of Magical Games and Sports" Maddox, the tour guide at the ministry of magic, said. "Excuse me, sir, but would I be able to go to the bathroom before we start?" A shyly content voice came from the back of the group of students; Luna. "Yes absolutely, that's no problem" Maddox said kindly, looking around the entrance of the building for the nearest toilet. "Just over there" Maddox said, pointing at a large grey door that stood at the opposite end of the room. Luna, accompanied by a few other Ravenclaw girls, scurried off as Draco stared longingly in their direction.
Quickly the girls were back and the group of students were guided into their first department tour. "Mostly in charge of the monitoring of global quidditch, this department is solely focused on non-muggle sporting activities" Maddox began once the children had turned their focus back to him. Although very interesting to Draco, as he was a member of the slytherin quidditch team, his mind couldn't seem to focus and his thoughts were anywhere but on the tour guide. His eyes ran quickly around the room, trying somehow to work out where the nearest bathroom was to them now.
Professor Lupin noticed Draco's disinterest and silently walked himself over to him, hoping his presence alone would refocus him. Draco noticed his Professor immediately as he precariously stood behind him, so he turned his superficial attention back onto Maddox. Inside, however, all he was interested in was impossibly finding a way to get to the toilet without asking or being seen, all before he had an accident in his nappy.
"So what we are going to do now is head into one of our lecture halls where we will have some of the Quidditch World Cup security team ready to answer any questions you may have" Maddox said, concluding his 20 minute long talk about magical sports.
The students were then quickly ushered into a smaller room in fear that poor management and control would lead to a national security breach by the children.
Before going in, Lupin decided to pull Draco for a brief chat. He softly grabbed onto his arm and tugged him away from the large group of chattering students. "Draco, you're really not going to get anything beneficial from today if you aren't going to listen and absorb what is being said" Lupin said, his eyebrows raised and his voice quite serious. "I am listening" Draco lied, attempting to get out of the inevitable lecture. "Don't lie to me Draco. I watched you for 10 minutes as you daydreamed just then. I know this day is difficult because of not being with Professor Snape, but I still have the same high expectations of you that I have for every other pupil in my class" Lupin continued to scold Draco.
Lupin had no real understanding of the gravity of Draco's problems. Really, he had no real understanding of child development beyond his own speciality of defence against the dark arts, so his knowledge on preventing accidents was pretty much zero. He had never been faced with a student who struggled with wetting themselves before, so knowing what to do and how to handle the situation was not Lupin's strongest suit. This in turn meant that Professor Lupin was blissfully unaware that he should've been asking Draco throughout the day whether he needed the toilet in order to avoid accidents. So, as a result, Lupin moved on from the situation and accompanied Draco into the lecture hall with his peers.
