Bill woke up early that Christmas morning. He wished that this holiday would bring joy in their little unhappy house.

It was naive for him to think that his brother will wait for him next to the Christmas tree with a plate full of cookies. But something in his mind made him have that foolish wish. He knows very well that his brother died.

A knock on the door was heard and what he saw, melted his heart at the sight. There were his friends, his frozen friends. In Derry winters are always cold and freezing.

"H-hello... f-friends" said Bill. He can't help but stutter. He is so excited to see his friends that came for him on this holiday.

He welcomed them inside and prepared hot chocolate for all of them. Beverly tip-toed in the kitchen to surprise him and poor Bill almost dropped the hot mugs.

"Let me help you, Billy" Beverly smiled and took three mugs off Bill's tray and placed them on another. She smiled at him, giving him a peck on his cheek.

Richie and Eddie took the mugs from Bill. Richie drank it from one sip.
" Delicious, it warmed my soul" said Richie delighted
"What soul?" asked Stan on a sarcastic comment.

After two hours the losers left, leaving Bill and Beverly on their own. Bill's parents were on a business trip and they left poor Billy at home.
Not that he was upset about it, he enjoyed to be alone from time to time, no fights, no arguments and accusations against him.

Beverly saw that his eyes were getting watery and wiped his tears. She led him next to the couch and they sat on it hearing just Bill's soft sobs and the pipes from plumbing. She placed her arm around Bill's shoulder .

"Can I stay on your shoulder?" He asked politely and she nodded in response .
She started to rub his back hugging him tightly. She loved this boy and she wasn't going to leave him again.

"Bill, I'll stay here in Derry. I won't leave you again." She said. Bill placed a kiss on her lips and she kissed him back, then they turned on the Tv and fell asleep.
