🍰 Part 14: An Interesting Student in the Gardens

♡ Elena's pov:

I quickly dropped by Ramshackle to get the camera so I could get some pictures. As I grabbed the camera, I kinda just stopped to stare at it for a bit. Why did Crowley give me such a powerful magical item? It... seems so strange to give a random magic-less student, especially one that came to the school out of no where. But I'm not gonna worry about that for now, I need to get to the garden.

As I walked towards the dome, I actually forgot that the trees were actually outside, so Deuce had to redirect me to the back of the glass dome. We quickly headed to the back and saw several of the chestnut trees, just like Trey said.

"Waaaah!" Grim exclaimed as he floated around the trees. "There's so many chestnuts all over the place! It's an all you can eat mont blanc... Let's start picking... Oww ow!" He shouted as he tried to pick one of the prickly chestnuts.

"Ffgna! The thorns pricked my paw!"

"Geez Grim, you have to be more careful." I say as I carefully massaged his paw (?) to ease the pain.

"We can't just pick them up with our bare hands." Deuce says as he looks at the chestnuts on the ground, probably thinking carefully. "It'll also be good to get a basket or something to put them all in."

"The botanical garden probably has whatever we need inside." Ace adds as he turns his head to the large glass dome.

"Let's go take a look." Deuce says, then we all quickly head inside of the gardens.

When we entered the dome, we were immediately surrounded by so many plants and trees. It was so gorgeous, so many different types of colorful plants. I just wanted to stay there for hours staring at what the garden had to offer, it was calming.

"Wow, it's bigger than I thought." Ace says as he scans the colorful area of plants.

Deuce takes a quick look at some of the flowers and says.
"There should be a caretaker of this place. We should split up and find them."

"I'll go right." Ace said.

"And I'll head left." Deuce says as he points to the left area of the garden. "Elena and Grim, you guys can go straight to the back."

I nod my head.
"Sounds good, see you soon." Then we all split to find the caretaker.

Me and Grim started walking towards the back of the garden, looking at all of our surroundings. Trying to see if we could find the caretaker.

"Hey, hey, look at this." Grim shouts at me, I took a glance towards his direction, did he actually find something useful?

"There's a bunch of fruit! They smell so good!" He attempts to take one of the colorful fruits from one of the trees.

"Grim don't do that-" As I start walking towards him I step on something really weird. I heard a deep voice grunt and I'm assuming I stepped on someone by accident.
"Oh gosh, did I step on someone? Are you ok?"

I immediately lifted up my foot to see what I stepped on. It was... a lion tail? What the hell?

I quickly looked to see if there was an actual lion but to my surprise, it was a student. Probably one of the Savanaclaw students due to the color of his vest and the build of his body (since Cater told me a lot of them are athletic) .

He had messy brown hair with lion ears adorned at the top of his head. Though, the thing that surprised me the most was his piercing emerald green eyes and the scar on his left eye.
He got up from the bushes he was resting behind and stood right in front of my direction to the back of the gardens, basically blocking my way. Boy was he tall, dear lord I hate it here.

"Oi." He snarls as he rises from his sleeping position. "You've got some nerve stepping on someone's tail without saying anything."

"Are you the caretaker here?" Grim asks as he reveals himself from behind my figure. "You seem like an impolite guy..."

"Grim! You can't just that bluntly." I quickly grab him and cover his mouth.

He yawns, "I was in the middle of a nice nap, then you." He turns his head to my direction. "Go walk all over my tail. This sucks- oh..." he stared at me with an almost blank expression.

"I-I'm... so sorry." Shit this isn't good, this was probably the first time I've actually felt intimidated by someone at this school. Everyone else at this school have been idiots (from what I've seen).

"You... Aren't you that female herbivore that the mirror brought? Hmmm... sorry for speaking disrespectfully." he immediately goes back to his comfy position on the ground and proceeds to go back to sleep? Weird?? I was sure I was gonna get beat up.

I stared at his sleeping position (probably looking terrified).
... I mean at least he wasn't going to hurt me? I turned my head back to Grim, giving a desperate look to flee, though, he also looked horrified to say the least.

"Man, what a weirdo." Grim mumbled as he shuddered in fear, still proceeding to stay behind me. "Hurry, let's get out of here!" Grim whisper shouted at me.

"Leona!" Shouts another voice suddenly. The three of our heads quickly whipped out heads to the sound of the voice, it was another Savanaclaw student. His uniform looked a but too big for him, he also had a pair of animal ears (I don't know what kind of animal though), dirty blonde hair, and a pair of bright blue eyes.

"Huh?" Leona said as he lazily turned his attention to the blue eye'd student.

"Ah, there you are. It's time for your remedial lessons, y'know- Oh? Am I... interrupting something?" He questioned.

"No your not interrupting anything."
I quickly reply. "I was just exploring the garden."

Leona grunted in annoyance.
"Ugghh... the annoying one's here."

The student snickered.
"Well since I'm not interrupting anything, let me continue. Leona, if you don't do your remedial lessons, your going to  keep getting held back and we're gonna be classmates soon."

"Knock if off already. I don't need lectures from you."

"I don't enjoy nagging you. You'd have no prob if you just tried. Whatever, let's go!" The student demanded.

"Tsk.... Watch out next time you come onto me terf... Herbivores." he turned his head to me as he slowly got up from the grass. His dark green eyes, looking down at me, this was a warning.
He quickly left the gardens with the other student.

"What the heck was that." I mumbled as I continued to walk around

Grim also fell to the ground.
"...Ffgnaa! What's with that caretaker?"

I stared at him.
"Grim, he's not a caretaker, didn't you see his sweatervest? It's one of the Savanaclaw students."

"Hey Elena! Grim! We found the basket and tongs." Ace's voice shouted as he emerged from the back area of the garden with Deuce.
"Eh? Why are you just staring at the exit? Are you planning to ditch us??" The blue haired student questioned.

I hastily took of the basket's from his hand.
"We weren't planning on ditching you two, don't worry about it too much. Let's just get those chestnuts."

"Ah! That's right! The chestnuts! Our tarts will get smaller if we don't get a bunch!" Grim exclaimed. "We'll talk talk about our encounter with the caretaker while we work."

"Grim, for the last time, he is not a caretaker." I muttered as we all exited the garden to go get the chestnuts.
