7 minutes in heaven

[Matsukawa's Pov]

It's Makki's birthday today. And we had planned a surprise party for him.

Today's a weekday so we a had our classes and work as always but I was to skip work and go straight to Makki's house for the preparation during noon after my classes ended.

Oikawa and Iwaizumi were to help me with the work since their classes ended with me today but Makki on the other hand, had classes until afternoon.

And luckily enough coming to his house from uni would take him a good amount of time since there's one traffic that falls on his way and it's a pretty long one.

Suzue and Shimizu's classes were to end with Makki so they weren't gonna make it for the preparation work but they'll come to Makki's house straight after class.

Nonetheless, I get up in the morning, freshen up and head straight to Uni like it's a just another normal day. There I'm greeted by the boys and we head straight to class.

Makki probably doesn't have a single hunch about it since it's not like we always give him a surprise every birthday possible. This used to happen back in middle school when giving surprise parties to friends were a thing.

We would all prepare a surprise party for the one with the birthday and a lot of the times they'd have a hunch about it but would still act like they were surprised. Childishness, but that's reasonable.

To reduce the suspicion, we greeted him normally for his birthday with gifts and having a little cupcake with a single candle to blow. This was Oikawa's plan though.

This happened during lunch when we had time off and Oikawa had bought cupcakes earlier for his birthday and we used one as a cake.

"So what'd ya got planned for me eh?"

Makki asks all confident assuming we'll do something for him. Well he's now wrong though.

"You really thought we'll do something for ya? That's pretty funny dude!" I follow.

"Ah straight to the heart."

Makki acts all dramatic making us laugh at his act.

"Anyways forget that let's go to eat tonight. My treat!"

"Of course you're treat. It's your birthday after all."

Oikawa says hiding the fact that we've literally got a surprise planned for him.

"You know I thought about it. Why do the one with the birthday gives the treat? I mean why do I treat people for the sole purpose of me being born?"

"Hmm.... you've got a point."

Oikawa joins him. I can't believe I'm friends with these idiots. Oh well they're the actual reason for my somewhat happiness at the end of the day so I'm not one to complain.

I glance over at Iwaizumi who's at the verge of loosing it for their idiotic behavior and before he looses it completely I drag him with me to go grab drinks while those two idiots stay there discussing about their so called interesting topic.

Unlocking the door to his apartment, I walk in to his house with the heaps of things I've got with me for the decorations. I turn around to lock the door after throwing the things to the floor.

I immediately plop down on the couch after grabbing myself a cup of water. And in a while after resting, I begin the decoration.

Makki's front door opens right to the living room and so that was the only place we'd decorate. Taking out the balloons I start blowing them when the doorbell rings.
