There hadn't been contact until Tommy asked to meet her, like usual. He stated they had a lead in the war, although she didn't know how.. because if it was anything to do with the Changretta's, Steph would know.

So she continued on, and met in their neutral ground by the canal. She saw him sitting there, smoking on a cigarette staring out, and seriously debated turning around.

She was honestly nervous about what he would say, and how he would act, because what did he know that she didn't?

But she didn't turn around, she carried on and held her head higher than usual because she was Steph Vanslow.

She sat down and told herself she wouldn't speak until he did, which is something she stuck to. He offered her a cigarette to which she declined, going on to pull out one of her black cigarettes, and lit it up.

He scoffed at the interaction, but she didn't care. Even relying on him in the smallest ways were giving away parts of herself she needed to keep.

"You came." He said eventually, flicking the finished cigarette onto the floor with his finger and thumb. She watched as it hit the ground, but continued to smoke and ash.

"Mm" she hummed. She tried to make it seem like she was completely uninterested in whatever Tommy was to say, but in all honesty, after their blow out, she was sure he'd sack her.

He breathed in, "No leads, which is precisely why I need you."

"Need?" she teased.

"Yes. I'm holding a boxing match, you're invited of course.. and I guess we'll just see yeah?"

She scoffed. What was he actually talking about. "A boxing match Mr Shelby? You think the Changretta's will come to a boxing match?" she laughed, taking the absolute piss.

He breathed out, anger radiating off of him.

"You have to be fucking kidding me you think that'll happen? And everything will work out according to Thomas Shelby, OBE's plan. My god you really are delusional." she shook her head.

She debated on standing up and leaving, but decided against it. Leaving wasn't going to fix it. She needed to find out all the details so finally, the war would be over.

In all honesty she just wanted Tommy Shelby gone. She wanted her and the rest of the Black Lights to leave this cursed town for good, because being here had ruined many things.

"Guess I won't be seeing you there?" he asked, pulling out another cigarette.

She looked over to him whilst he was facing out onto the canal. "You will... I just can't understand your plans, and in fact, I don't think I want to. The only reason I'm still here is because of you- winning for you." she said.

Obviously that was a lie.

But if only he looked a little closer to things, he'd realise she isn't on his side at all.

"Ok settled. You can get back to leading on all the boys at your camp now." he said, waving his arms for her to go off.

She shut her eyes, squeezing them. "Don't be bitter."

"How can I not be?"

"Easy, just get over me!"

He flicked the cigarette onto the floor, despite the fact it wasn't finished and continued to let of smoke into the air. "I told myself I wouldn't fall for you because I have heard-I've heard so many stories about you and your ways and I never got it. I didn't understand how people could just fall for you. Yes, I agree you are beautiful and mesmerising and sexy and easy to get along with and- well the list could go on. But the point is, there's something about you that's just," he paused, "but I can't just 'get over you' because you are so addictive."

She was stunned into silence, although there was no surprise he thought that. Everyone had told her a similar thing but he, he put it into such perfect words it gave her a massive confidence boost.

"Thanks." she replied, trying not to give much emotion. He still called her a whore, and that still hurt.

"Thanks?" He spat.

"Yeah. Seems as if I'm not a whore this time yeah?"

"Steph please, that was heat of the moment shit-"

"Don't start with me Tommy Shelby." She interrupted. "Argument or not, you still said it, you still thought it." she scolded him.

And with that, he said "I'm sorry."

Something she would never imagine coming out of his mouth. Because to her, he was a cold hearted gangster which was murderous and evil.

And to him she was everything he ever wanted.
