Cora grabbed my arm and walked us onto the pier, it was far enough away from the boys so they wouldn't hear us. I could feel my palms sweating, I have never kept anything from Cora, but I was really considering it right now; I didn't want her to think badly of me, but then again that wasn't who Cora was.
"Okay, now talk." She said, releasing my arm so she could cross hers over her chest. I took a deep breath and steadied myself. "Okay, before I begin I just want to say that you're my bestest ever friend and I love you dearly.." She raised an impatient eyebrow at me so I continued, trying to say it as softly as I could, "Your dress was torn off me."
She pushed me into the lake.
It was a pretty mild reaction, Cora loved that dress almost as much as she loved food. After scrambling out of the water and trailing behind her back inside, dripping wet, we headed up to our room.
"Okay now that that is out of my system," She sighed happily, dropping onto her bed while I stood there shivering, "continue."
So I did, I told her everything that had happened from the point Ty kissed me in the club right up to this mornings' kitchen encounter. She sat in silence listening while I paced the room, not once interrupting me right up until I ran out of breath and flopped down onto my own bed, not really caring that I was getting it wet.
She waited a beat and then sat up, "So let me get this straight; Ty, who didn't even want to be your friend two days ago, who you've known for just shy of four weeks, is stuffing you like a turkey on thanksgiving."
I wrinkled my nose at her analogy, "I wouldn't say it like that, but essentially, yes."
"And Ty ripped my dress apart, while it was still on your body," She clarified while I nodded. "Well, who knew the tall dark and handsome ones were also the most kinky."
"You're telling me," I agreed, "I had no idea he was like that, I mean don't get me wrong it was hot, but I never imagined Ty to be so..." I trailed off, not having an appropriate word for him, but luckily Cora did; "Fuckalicious."
"Please don't ever say that word again." I groaned, but secretly I had to admit it was a pretty good word to describe him.
"So wait, are you two together or something?" She asked, rolling over to face me. I sighed heavily, "You know what, I have absolutely no idea what Ty and I are," I admitted, "It's like you said; two days ago he didn't even want to be my friend, and now this."
"I don't hear you complaining though." Cora pointed out with a leer in my direction, "It seems to me that maybe you don't really care if you're not an item, as long as he's buttering your muffin."
"Cora, your food analogies need to stop," I groaned, "and is that such a bad thing? I mean in this day and age sex between two people doesn't have to mean they're legally contracted to each other." I reasoned. "Besides, Ty and I don't know each other well enough yet to have a relationship."
"Preach it sister," Cora replied, getting to her feet, "I'm all for you eating the metaphorical hot dog, but you are buying me a new dress."
I glared at her, "Not if you keep doing that." I said, Cora and food were more intense than the most passion filled relationships, and if she insisted on using food metaphors for everything, I may have to kill her.
"Okay fine I'll stop," she sighed, "but you're still buying me a new dress, and a burger today."
I stood up too and started looking for a new outfit, "We're going hiking, Cora." I reminded her. She cocked an eyebrow at me, "So?"
I turned and started stripping off to pull on a new, dry dress, it was way too humid today to wear jeans. "There are no burger shacks in the wilderness."
