I want to cross the limits with you.

Janette couldn't believe her ears. The joy bubbling inside her was indescribable, but she needed to be sure. "Umm... what did you just say?" A small smile crept across her face.

Asher rolled his eyes. "I knew it."

"You knew what?" she asked, narrowing her eyes at him.

"That as soon as I said those words, you'd tease me." At this, she glared at him, crossing her arms defiantly. She turned away, her back to him, a clear signal that she wasn't amused by his jokes.

But then she felt his hands on her shoulders. "I'm willing to give our relationship a chance," he whispered in her ear, sending shivers down her spine.

"Happy?" he asked, gently turning her to face him.

"Happy," she replied, cupping his face in her hands before leaning in for a kiss. They explored each other's mouths, lost in the moment until they finally pulled away, breathless.

"You must be hungry?" he said, and she nodded eagerly. He called room service for breakfast, but just as she was about to start a conversation, his phone rang. Frustrated, she cursed the caller under her breath.

Fifteen minutes later, breakfast arrived. Janette quickly grabbed a sandwich and stuffed it into her mouth while Asher was busy on the phone and working on his laptop. Realizing he must be hungry too, she picked up another sandwich and decided to feed him. When she offered him a bite, he looked puzzled but accepted, smiling at her.

The phone call seemed to last forever, and by the time it ended, they had finished all the food, feeding each other in between bites. Janette was excited to talk to him; every word felt precious. But her enthusiasm faded when he mentioned he had an important meeting and suggested she rest until someone came to give her a tour of the city. He promised they'd spend the evening together at his favorite restaurant.

She wanted to stop him, to express her disappointment, but she held back. He was here for work, not to spend time with her. As she watched him leave, a wave of sadness washed over her, though he planted a soft kiss on her temple before he went.

She had never anticipated that being a billionaire's wife would be this difficult. Sighing, she picked up her phone and started reading an e-novel. Just then, a call from Erie lit up her screen, and she smiled as she answered.

"Hey! What's up?"

"Hey, Jane! I can tell your husband is keeping you busy; he must not want you to miss us."

Everything felt so confusing, so she chose to lie. "Yeah! He's completely different from what I thought he'd be."

Erie laughed. "That's what we've been saying since day one, dear."

"How's Eric?" Janette asked, shifting the conversation.

"He's been a workaholic lately, trying to reclaim fifty percent of Stark Corporations shares that his dad left for you. He wants to gift it to you for your 26th birthday."

The revelation hit Janette like a punch to the gut. Eric had built his own business and given his inherited shares to Robert Stark. The other half was left for their sister, who was out of the picture.

Understanding dawned on her: the men in her life had kept her away from her brother because of the company. Rage bubbled up inside her. All this time, Eric had been right. She felt the tears start to roll down her cheeks. "What a game that man has played with me," she whispered, anger and sadness swirling within her.

"Did you say something, Janette?" Erie asked.

"N-nothing. I'll talk to you later. Take care of yourself and my brother." She hung up, tears streaming down her face. It felt like whenever something good happened, something bad followed. She whispered, "Why does this always happen?"

Worried for both Eric and Tom, she thought about the man who had kept twenty-five years of her life built on lies. What else could he do?

 What else could he do?
