Even a Thousand Centuries Are Not Enough to Show the Unique Ways I Can Shower My Love on You...
After Mart left, Janette's heart raced as she noticed Asher's blue eyes darkening with anger. “Care to tell me about your whereabouts, Mrs. Norman?” Asher asked through gritted teeth, his voice low and menacing. She stared back at him, stunned by the intensity of his anger—something she had never seen before.
“Why do you care, Mr. Norman?” she shot back, maintaining her composure despite the fear creeping up her spine.
“Don’t test my patience, Jane,” he warned, slamming her against the door, trapping her between him and the hard surface.
It was the first time he had ever used her first name, and the sound of her nickname on his lips, even in anger, sent an unexpected shiver down her spine.
“I asked you a question,” he snapped, pulling her from her thoughts as his eyes bore into her green ones. She wasn’t the type to back down from a stare-off, so she met his glare head-on, refusing to look away.
He smirked, clearly amused by her defiance. “Why are you smiling?” she demanded, frowning at him.
“Is there anything in the world you’re afraid of?” he asked, his voice almost teasing, and she couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle.
“What kind of question is that?” she replied, giving him an incredulous look.
“Never mind,” he muttered, shaking his head as if to brush off the thought. “Where were you?” he asked again, his anger returning, though there was something else in his gaze now—an emotion she couldn’t quite read as his eyes lingered on her face. The intensity of his stare made her nervous, and before she realized it, she was biting her lip.
He sighed and reached out, gently freeing her lip from her teeth. “Don’t do that,” he warned softly, and she shot him a glare in return.
“What will you do after finding out where I was?” she countered. Instead of answering, he cupped her face in his hands, a gesture that caught her completely off guard. His thumb brushed across her lower lip, sending a flutter of butterflies through her stomach. Her eyes were locked on his, trying to decipher his intentions, but his face revealed nothing.
Slowly, his face moved closer to hers, so close that if she moved even slightly, their lips would meet. She felt a strange, unfamiliar sensation sweeping through her body, leaving her unsure of how to react. Her eyes widened as his lips suddenly captured hers. She opened her mouth, intending to speak, but he took the opportunity to deepen the kiss. Everything happened so fast that she wasn’t even aware of when her traitorous body started kissing him back.
His lips were soft against hers, and she felt butterflies erupting in her stomach as their tongues tangled in a heated dance. His hands gripped her hips, pulling her closer. This kiss was different from the one on their wedding day—it was longer, more intense, almost like he was punishing her. But then a scene from last night flashed through her mind, and a wave of disgust washed over her. How could he kiss me like this if he loves someone else?
Anger and hurt surged through her, and with both hands, she shoved him away. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she glared at him, her eyes red with fury. Asher looked almost bewildered, like a child whose candy had been snatched away by a younger sibling. But before she could unleash her wrath, the shrill ring of his phone cut through the tension.
Janette felt her strength drain from her body as she sank to the floor, her back against the door. The golden light of the sunset streamed in through the glass window, casting a yellowish-brown hue over the room. Her breathing was ragged, and her heart pounded like she had just run ten laps around a football field. She buried her face in her hands, pulling at her hair, and whispered to herself, “What just happened?”

OMG! He kissed her.
