Unexpected Surprises

A year later....

Luz has been (permanently) living in the Boiling Isles for at least a year now. She still couldn't believe it. If you told her 14 year old self that she would finally be living here, she would probably tell someone to pinch her.

Luz stared out into the field she sat by that was behind the royal palace. She had been out here for at least an hour, just thinking...

...And waiting.

"Luz!" She heard a name call her and turned around. Amity had snuck behind the palace as the maidens would start to wonder where she was. Luz beamed up at the woman and stood up, "Sooo?" Amity looked at her with a smile of joy as she nodded her head in excitement. Luz's smile grew wider as she ran to Amity.

She practically scooped her wife up into a hug and spun her around as they both laughed. Once Luz set Amity down, their foreheads touched. "Luz..I'm actually kinda nervous.." Amity said with concern. "Everything is going to be okay, I promise. And I am going to take extra good care of you.." Luz backed away, only to playfully pose, "I will be your fearless champion!"

Amity giggled as she grabbed her wife's hands, "You're already my fearless champion, silly." Amity placed Luz's hands on her waist. Luz hummed as she leaned closer, "Always have, always will be."

"Your majesty!"

The two of them turned to one of the maidens calling out to Amity. "Oh good, you're still around here. Your sister has arrived." The maiden had walked up to them. "Oh- Lady Noceda." She quickly added and bowed.

Luz chuckled, "Just call me Luz, Sofia. I've already told you." Sofia smiled, "Still, I like to be respectful of the Empress's wife." Amity smiled, "Thank you for letting us know, we'll be right over."

Sofia nodded and walked away. Amity turned to Luz as she grabbed both of her hands and took a deep breath, "So..Are you ready?" Luz nodded as she squeezed her hands,

"Always."

Emira and Viney stood inside the main hall.

Emira was kinda confused, but excited at the same time as she had some news of her own. "Ohmygosh..Do you think it's too soon?" Viney asked worriedly. Emira chuckled, "Early? Viney, darling..We've been dating for nearly a decade! Pretty safe to say it's perfect." Viney smiled, "I know, I know..But still..I can't believe we're finally engaged."

"Took me too long." Emira joked. "Are you wondering why they called you here?" Viney asked. Emira wrapped a loving arm around her fiancée, "Probably something serious since Amity sounded nervous." Viney suddenly had a theory, "You think Amity is finally giving up the throne?" Emira shrugged, "I have no idea. She's had it for a long time..Why are you implying that?" Viney shrugged, "It's like you said, she's had it since forever. Plus..she complained about it every time she hung out with us." The two giggled.

"Emira! Viney! Thank titans you're both here." Amity called out as she entered the main hall with Luz following. "Well, it sounded pretty urgent." Emira chuckled. "So, what's up Mittens?" Amity took a deep breath as Luz stood by her side and smiled. "Soo, first things first...I-"

"Woah, is that a ring?"

Luz cut off Amity in amazement as she looked at Viney's hand. Amity looked down to see Viney's hand as her eyes widen. Emira nervously laughed as Viney gave them a sheepish grin. "Oh, um..We were actually going to tell you about that.." Viney looked at Emira and then back at them, "Well, you see..ha ha.." Emira smiled at them as she held Viney's hand,

"We're engaged."

Amity lightly gasped in excitement, "Oh my gosh, congrats!" Luz smiled as she opened her arms, "Ahh wedding!" The four girls laughed as they went in a group hug. As their laughter died down, they separated. Emira sighed with delight, "Well, mittens..Your turn." Amity smiled, "Well, given some thought..I have decided..to step off the throne."

Viney looked at Emira with a 'called it' look. "Wait..so that means.." Emira gasped, "You finally picked someone!" Viney seemed excited along with her fiancée, "Ooo who is it?! Is it someone powerful and mysterious?" Amity and Luz looked at each other and then back at them,

"I was wondering if...you would like to be Empress."

Emira looked shocked as well as Viney when she turned to see her reaction. "Are..are you serious?" Amity looked at her softly, "I mean..I know its a big responsibility but..I see greatness in you, power, and most of all.." Emira looked at her sister, who handed her the Emperor's staff,

"I know you're capable of this."

Emira was still dazed a bit as Viney squeezed her arm reassuringly, "Hun..are you okay?" Luz looked at her with concern, "I know this is so sudden but..You are the only one who fits it." Amity looked at her with concern as well, "And, you do have a choice." Emira gently held the staff in her hand and looked at it. She looked at Amity and smiled,

"I'll do it."

Amity smiled, "Really?" Viney put a hand on Emira, "Are you sure love? It's a really big responsibility." She assured. Emira smiled, "I'm sure." Luz and Amity smiled. "Group hug agaiiinnn!" Luz said as the four laughed and hugged. "Oh, um..another thing." Amity said during the hug.

They all separated as Emira and Viney looked at her confused. "There's more?" Emira asked. Luz and Amity looked at each other and smiled. "Just..one thing." Luz smiled. Amity nudged at her wife, "Okay, okayyy." Luz chuckled. She turned to Emira,

"We were wondering...if you two..would like to be godparents?"

The engaged couple looked at each other confused and then back at them. "Godparents to..what? A pet?" Emira asked dumbfounded. Viney tried connecting all the pieces together. Suddenly, she understood and gasped as a huge smile fell on her face.

"Are you pregnant?!"

Amity giggled as she laid a hand on her stomach. Luz laughed, "Ding ding!" Emira's smile went wide as she jumped excitedly up and down, "No way! Oh my titans!" The engaged couple squealed as they hugged the soon to be parents. "Yes! Yes we will!"

"Oh wow, so should we go tell the others?" Luz said. They all let go and laughed a bit. "I say we start off with your mom and Eda." Amity said. Luz dramatically put a hand on her heart, "Ugh, they're gonna be such great grandmas."

"Well..what are you two waiting for?" Emira asked she grabbed her fiancée's hand. The two headed out the door, with Amity and Luz following. Amity took a deep breath, "Well...Are you ready?" Luz leaned down to press a kiss on her wife's lips.

"I've never been more ready."
