The Protector (sokka x reader)

when aang was in the avatar state i had passed out due to heat exhaustion and the cactus juice. we made it to this waterfall pond place and it got us all refreshed and hydrated.

we were all in our under garments playing in the water. sokka and toph were at this rock and i was up with katara about to jump into the water.

"water bending bomb!" shouted katara as we leaped into the water.

our splash sent aang out of the water, and breaks his ice prison. we accidentally also soaked sokka, toph and the maps.

"Ssure, five thousand year-old maps from the spirit library. just splash some water on 'em."
"oops" i said, my face cringing
"sorry."

katara ringed her hair dry and then water bended the water out the maps

"so did you figure out what route to take?"
"okay, we just got out of the desert, so we must be around here. and we need to go to ba sing se, which is here. it looks like the only passage connecting the south to the north is this sliver of land called the serpent's pass."

"you sure that's the best way to go?" toph asked
"it's the only way to go. i mean, it's not like we have appa to fly us there."

i wacked his arm and said "shush up, about appa. can't you at least try to be sensitive?"

"y/n, it's okay. i know i was upset about losing appa before, but i just want to focus on getting to ba sing se and telling the earth king about the solar eclipse."

"oh...well, okay. i'm glad you're doing better." i said shocked

"then to ba sing se we go! no distractions."

suddenly three travelers appeared

"hello there, fellow refugees!"
"so, you guys are headed to ba sing se too?" asked the curious avatar
"sure are. we're trying to get there before my wife ying has her baby."
"great! we can travel through the serpents pass together!" katara said cheerfully

the three refugees however looked up in shock.

"the serpent's pass? only the truly desperate take that deadly route" said ying

"deadly route." toph punched sokka in the arm, "great pick, sokka!"
"well we are desperate. and can you two stop hitting me?"
"when you stop being an idiot" i said laughing

"you should come with us to full moon bay. ferries take refugees across the lake. it's the fastest way to ba sing se." said than
"and it's hidden, so the fire nation can't find it." added ying

"hmm...peaceful ferry ride or deadly pass?"
"i vote ferry ride." raising my hand

while waiting in line a cabbage merchant was hackling with the ticket lady.

"i told you already...no vegetables on the ferry! one cabbage slug could destroy the entire ecosystem of ba sing se! security!"

a platypus bear destroyed the cabbage cart.

"ahhhhh! my cabbages!" he screamed as he was being carried away.

"next!"

aang walked up to the desk.

"um five tickets to ba sing se, please."
"passports?"
"uh...no one told us we had to have passports."

sokka walked over to aang and put his arm around him

"don't you know who this is?! he's the avatar!"
"ah, I see fifty avatars a day and, by the way, not a very impressive costume. besides, no animals allowed. do i need to call security?"
