"GIMME YOUR HAND."

    "Touch me and you die."

"Emmy," Luke whines, stomping his foot like a child. She gawks at his behavior, letting him intertwine their fingers like vines crawling up the side of a home. "Dance with me." He pulls her closer to him, other hand easily finding its place on her lower back.

Sunset Curve had been gaining more recognition, the band working the Hollywood club scene more frequently than ever. When Luke got the call that they would be playing the Orpheum, he stopped dead in his tracks.

Luke and Emmy had been walking through the park near their houses way past sundown. Luke complained about needing fresh air since the garage was starting to smell like Reggie's stinky cowboy boots.

When he got the phone call, he kept his composure until he hung up. Now, he was leaping in the air, bouncing on his heels and running around the open baseball field around their childhood park.

Now, he was trying to convince Emmy to dance with him, and he's horribly failing.

"We are outside, Lucas," she tries to reason. "This is a park."

"No," he draws out, lips pouting. "This is our house. Our home." He raises his arms to the sky, twirling around and around, the chains on his waist slapping against his thighs.

    "There's no music."

"Emmy, you act as if I'm not the lead singer of a band that's playing the freaking Orpheum."

"Alright," she sighs dramatically, going limp in his arms. He chuckles, holding her tighter to him until she stands straight. "What song are you playing Mr. Radio?"

Luke begins to hum an unfamiliar tune, taking the first step to sway. Emmy rests her head against his shoulder, breathing in the sweet scent of home. His soft singing creates a subtle vibration, Emmy leaning more into him.

He continues to whisk them around, and that's when Emmy pulls away. "Are you humming Louis Armstrong?" she gawks at him.

    "'La vie en rose', baby."

She smiles up at him and he can't help but marvel at the twinkle in her eyes. It was like stars in a velvet of black.

They continue to sway, a bunch of giggles shared between the pair. Luke starts to hum a bunch of silly songs, "Kung Fu Fighting" being one of them. They were unapologetically themselves that night, underneath the stars that shined just for them that night.
