chapter 28 : cooking time with asmodeus

"Asmodeus could you pass me the chicken and vinegar?" I asked

"Sure, here you go," he replied

Today, we are going to cook Tong Dak (Korean BBQ Chicken wings). This is one of the easiest Korean food to cook. Tong dak is featured on menus from Baltimore to Chicago and San Francisco. These Korean tong dak chicken wings are juicy, spicy, and sweet, and it's impossible to just eat one. When choosing your fresh chicken wings and drumettes at the store, bear in mind that smaller wings (from younger chickens) are likely to be more tender, while larger ones will have more meat and maybe juicier. The key to this Korean barbecue chicken wings recipe is cooking the wings twice, once while browning them in a pan on the stove, and again while roasting them in the oven.

I opened the cookbook that I made last time,

Ingredients :

1-inch piece of fresh ginger (minced)2 teaspoons 6 tablespoons 3 tablespoons sugar3 tablespoons 5 cloves garlic (minced)1/2 small onion (minced)1 tablespoon red pepper paste 2 pounds of chicken wings 

After gathering all of the ingredients from the instruction. Now, it's time to cook. Eventually, Asmodeus helped a bit. He helped me minced the ginger, garlic, and small onions. Since this kitchen had no red pepper paste, Asmodeus surprisingly knew how to make a red pepper paste.

All you have to do is add the red peppers, Haperino peppers, oil, sugar, and salt in a food processor and blend on high until pureed. Pour the puree into a non-stick pan and simmer on medium-low heat (don't forget to stir it) for 20 to 30 minutes or until the liquid has cooked off and paste has formed.

"How did you know how to make a red pepper paste?" I asked him

"My mother used to make my food with it, that's why I liked spicy foods," he replied

That's quite uncommon for western people. Usually, western people couldn't stand spicy foods. And that's why I put some sugar inside the foods last time. But maybe demons are different, they are more likely to eat spicy foods rather than sweets. 

"So we have to mix all of the ingredients, except for the chicken, together for the sauce," I said

"Let me guess, we have to marinate the chicken in the sauce," he said

"Wow, I didn't know you're smart at cooking," 

He smiled, and both of us enjoyed our time in the kitchen. Some of the Chefs are also helping us, they helped us cooked the chicken in the saucepan and the oven. After a few hours, we finally finished. And it was tiring.

"So how was it?" he asked me

"It was tiring, how about you? you've never helped me cook a meal before," I asked him back

"Honestly it was fun, it reminds me of my mom," he replied and smiled at me

"You really loved your mother, and I'm sure she loved you dearly"

He's so cute, I can't help it. Even that he's older than me, he may look younger than I am. How could people resist such a beautiful man? Ugh, Alice focus! But he is alive and growing up is like a miracle to me. In the novel, Asmodeus was killed by an assassin, so he didn't have any parts in the novel. But now, the plot has changed. And I like this plot, even though it's crazier than the first plot. Usually, reincarnated characters got panicked because the story had changed. But I'm not, because this plot will make a happy ending for each of us. Especially for Camelia Crimson.

Both of us go to the dining room and eat the chicken that we cooked.

"Hey, you're lost in thoughts again," he said

"Sorry, I sometimes think a lot," I replied

"Don't overthink, or you'll get sick," he said and give me some chickens to my plate

"Thanks for worrying me, you're one of the nicest people I've ever met"

He flushed, and it made his face red but he looked cuter. It makes me wanted to tease him more, but I think I should finish my food first. It's a waste if I keep looking at it.

"Here, eat more," I gave him some chicken to his plate

"Thanks"

Both of us finished eating, and we're planning on taking a stroll in the Academy's garden. It's really fun to befriend Asmodeus. He's really different from what people say about him, and it makes me feel relieved. At least he's protected and being loved by his family, so he can live happily.

"Asmodeus, do you have a nickname?" I asked him

"Nickname? why do you ask?" 

"Your name is quite long, it's hard to call you with that name"

"Actually my name isn't Asmodeus"

"What?"

"My real name is Allen Vicander Lennox"

I gasped

"Wait, Asmodeus is far away from that name!"

But in my past world, Asmodeus is a name given to a devil child. Is that why he changed his name?

"I didn't change my name, it's because I had 2 names," he said

"And how's that possible?" I asked

"My grandfather gave me the name Asmodeus, and my parents gave me the name Allen," he replied

"But why didn't you use the name that your parents gave?"

"To scare people away, Asmodeus is a name that given for the devil's child. So if I use that name, people won't bother me"

"Let me guess, you thought humans are troublesome don't you?"

"How did you know?"

"I experienced the same thing, I  changed my hair color to chase people away from me. If I have silver hair, people will begin to be interested in me, and it bothers me a lot"

"What's with the silver hair?"

"I was rumored to be an illegitimate child because I had different mana from the rest of the Crimson family member. That's why people begin to spread rumors that I was born with black hair and I was cursed by the demons"
