chapter 19 : preparation for the exam

After having our lunch, I and Kathrina decided to go back to our room. Maverick and Asmodeus are also going to train themselves for tomorrow. It's quite exhausting to handle a lot of curious students in the dining room. Tomorrow will be our next exam, and it'll be more difficult than the first one.

And now, I'm too lazy to train and I'm so bored. In my past life, I can use my phone. But in this life, there are no electronic devices that I could find. Kathrina seemed to be stressed out preparing for her test tomorrow, I don't actually know what did she pick as her major. Maybe I can help her out a bit.

"Kathrina, what will you pick as your major?" I asked

"I picked fashion business, but I still don't have any ideas for the design," she said

"I'll help you then," I said

"But how about you? aren't you busy?"

"Busy my ass, I'm so bored right now"

"Okay then"

The theme for the fashion business exam is jewelry. This is quite easy I think since, in my past life, there's a lot harder theme. Like reusable resources, or plastics. Luckily, I entered the art major when I'm in university. I helped Kathrina with the sketch, and she was surprised and thankful for me. When I was about to help her with the measurements, she stopped me. She said that she doesn't want to be a burden for me. Instead, she gave me a ring.

"It's pretty," I said

The ring that she gave me looked quite expensive. It's a ruby ring, but somehow I felt some kind of mana inside it. I think this is a valuable accessory, but why did she give this to me?

"Don't worry, you've helped me a lot. This is how I expressed my gratitude towards you. Without your help, I don't think I'll be able to find any ideas," she said to me

"But this looked valuable, you sure?" I asked

"It looks good for you, you also have ruby eyes. If I used this, it'll be weird you know?"

Kathrina was a woman with a big influence amongst the nobles in Lennox Empire. So she needs to watch her image and her appearance. She's right, her eyes are blue like the ocean, a ruby won't suit her well.

"You're right, thank you," I said to her

"It's my honor anyway," she said

"Then, I'll take an evening stroll, see you later" 

I took my sword and opened the door

"Okay, don't forget to come back," Kathrina said

"Of course"

Actually, I'm too lazy to take a walk but I'm too bored.  But after reading a lot of novels, taking a stroll around was a regular thing to do as a character. And it would also nice to swing your sword in a quiet place.

I took a stroll outside the dorm, I thought it would be nice to take a stroll in the garden. But I saw another person was here. He's Asmodeus, and I don't think he looked well. He looked worried somehow, but I think I shouldn't bother him since Maverick said he had quite a temper.

I accidentally stepped on a branch, this is bad ugh

"What should I do?" I asked myself

Asmodeus walked towards me, but he didn't seem to be bothered.

"Oh you're here, Maverick's inside the dorm," he said

Wait, how come he's this friendly? is it because of Maverick?

"I don't search for him, I'm just taking a stroll out here," I said

"But, why did you bring your sword?"

"It's just that I need to swing my sword a bit"

"You're not training?" 

"No, why do I have to?"

"What do you mean?'

Oh, I almost forget that the second exam is not yet revealed, normal characters like Asmodeus won't know what will we do for the exam tomorrow. But shouldn't at least Maverick told him about this? he's the brother anyway.

"I don't think we need physique training," I said

"Strange, but how did you and my brother have the same answer?" he asked 

"Actually, the exam is a hunting competition"

"What?" 

Asmodeus dropped his sword, he looked surprised. 

"Maverick said the same, but I didn't believe him. But how can you be so sure?" he asked

"It's the truth, believe it or not, what I've said is real," I answered

"What will we hunt?"

"A magical creature"

"Just that?"

"Yeah, but it'll be more difficult than you thought it maybe"

"And how is it?"

"You can't catch an org or small animals, or you'll be eliminated"

Asmodeus looked at me with a dumbfounded face, he didn't think that the exam will be this extreme. But more than that, I think he's more confused about how I and his brother knew all of this all along.
