Amelia's POV

Today was November 20th. It's been two months since Mason was born and life has been amazing.

Kelly and I were on our last month of maternity and paternity leave, which left us this week to get our house ready for Christmas. I hate to admit it, but I'm the type of person to have Christmas decorations up for Thanksgiving. "Babe!" I hear Kelly call from the garage as I stand in the living room, rocking Mason as he breastfeeds, going through our Christmas home decor. "Where'd we put the ornaments?" He asks hearing shuffling sounds coming from the garage. "I think we put them on the second shelve! It should be labeled," I tell him as loudly as I can without waking up Mason. He comes waltzing back in with two boxes in his hands. "Finally found them," He huffs as he sets them down on the coffee table before opening them up.

We thankfully had our tree already up, it just needed to be decorated.

Now that the house was coming together for Christmas, it felt much more homely and in the holiday spirit.

"Can you get the garland started--" I start to tell Kelly when the doorbell sounds through the house. With a furrowed brow, I move Mason from my boob, slipping my nursing bra back up and settling my shirt in place before answering the door. "Sylvie!" I wrap my sister in a hug, letting her in before shutting the door behind her. "There's my little nephew," She coos, quickly snatching Mason from my arms. "Wow, nice to see you too," I roll my eyes while crossing my arms.

"Yeah, yeah, hi. Hi Kelly!" I let out a huff, pursing my lips at my sister who is gazing adoringly at Mason as he sleeps soundly in her arms. Feel the love, Sylvie. Kelly waves as he continues to dig through the ornaments, setting everything out in an organized fashion. I taught him well. I smirk to myself, turning to Sylvie. "If you want to stay and visit your nephew, you're helping," I point at her before flicking her nose quickly. Sylvie sticks her tongue out at me, moving to set Mason in his bassinet before helping Kelly and me with the decorations.

"So," I start to say as we hang the ornaments up, "I was thinking about expanding Amelia's into a restaurant," I pause, waiting for their response. The bakery and food truck have been doing so well, that I thought it was time to branch out. During my maternity leave, I hired two managers for the bakery and one for the food truck. Some of my staff had gone home for the holiday break since they were out-of-state college students, so I was also hiring new staff. The managers did the interviews and selected who they thought fit best with my company and morals, but I went over everything and selected the few from the bunch that I thought would work. "Mia, that's amazing!" Sylvie exclaims happily, clapping her hands.

"Baby, that's great," Kelly grins at me, taking a sip from his beer before pulling me into a hug. God, what I would do to have a beer right now. "When did you decide this?" He asks once we finish decorating the tree.

"I've been mulling it over for the last month, but I finally decided just now," I laugh with a shake of my head, wondering what I will be getting myself into.

"It takes about a year to open an entirely new restaurant. First I'd have to find a place to buy, make sure everything is up to code before construction can even begin."

This was going to be a hell of a year.

I was by myself, at home with Mason. Kelly had gone to the firehouse to check in with the guys. I think he was going a little stir-crazy.
