Chapter 4: Not Named 'New'

•)Alex's POV(•

The next few days passed quickly, and Logan didn't show up to any of the classes we share, any of the days. Maybe I should file an MIA. No, not worth it.

The bell finally rang after 5th period and I grabbed my books and binder and walked out the door. When I was about to exit the room, I heard someone call after me.

"Miss Hemmings, could I have a moment to talk to you, please?" Ms. Smith, my history teacher asked. She had blonde hair cut into a bob, and wore light makeup. She was actually really young, probably in her 20s.

"Uh, sure." I walked over to her desk with uncertainty. If I was in trouble, I would've already known. Right?

"Well, I took a look at your grades back at Greenfield High in New York, and they are outstanding. And I was wondering if you would be willing to tutor one of our, let's say, less successful students." Ms. Smith questioned.

"Um, who exactly is this, less successful, kid?" Please do not be him. Please, do not be him.

"His name is Andy Harver." She replied, looking at me calculatingly.

Maybe I should go to church more. Thank you, Lord.

I though about it for a while, accept or not accept?

"Also, this will provide you with a great extra curricular that you have been lacking on your resimé, for you to get into your dream school, Princeton. I could write the recommendation myself." She persuaded.

"Alright." What have I got to lose anyways?

"Ok, I will notify Mr. Carver, and you can start today, after school. Is that ok?" Ms. Smith asked.

"Yeah, it's fine. How about the library?" I just heard the bell ring, signaling that next class has started. I swore under my breath. I'm going to be late again.

"Ok, that's great actually, but you should be going now, I'll write you a pass for holding you in here so long. And I just wanted you to know that this means a lot. You are probably about to help this boy raise his Failing grade and graduate. Thank you, Miss Hemmings." She smiled, and nodded her head in thanks. She took out a slip of paper and quickly scribbled her signature down.

I rushed out the door, sprinting towards my 6th period classroom. Right when I turned the corner to one of the corridors, I bumped into someone, and we both tumbled the ground.

"What the fuck!" I heard him yell.

Great.

Last time I heard that, it didn't go so well.

"Ok, I'm so sorry. I really didn't mean to do that." I got to my feet and absentmindedly brushed off the dust that wasn't there off my jeans.

The guy looked up from the ground after standing up, and looked at me. He had pretty brown eyes and was actually very handsome. He had light brown hair, and well defined muscles under his t-shirt.

"Oh, no, it was my fault. I was just trying to get to Ms. Smith's classroom. She called me there for some stupid reason. Probably because I'm almost failing, but it's not my fault I can't remember the Egyptians or the Trojan War." He sighed, running his hand through his hair, messing it up a bit.
