Rosed

My most prized possession are my rose tinted glasses.
They help me see bad as 'it could have been worse'.
Sometimes, it's truly my biggest blessing,
and yet sometimes, it is my worst curse.

Through my rose tinted glasses,
I always can see
the trees, the sky, buzzing bumblebees.
I no longer stare
at the majors looming,
the pain, and the tears, and all the cruelty.

Through my rose tinted glasses,
all smiles are genuine, true, real,
and my mind embraces it
knowing those masks will one day peel,
for through rose colored glasses,
all lips are tinted pink,
not red and deceitful,
as it would do good of me to think.

Through rose tinted glasses,
the air's filled with love,
astonishing beauty floating above,
not smoke and pollution
and lost souls that still shove.

Through rose tinted glasses,
I see all that can be,
the hope of the future,
every possibility.
But my eyes are blind
to the mistakes that have been made,
the wreck of the past,
history that won't fade.

Through rose tinted glasses,
the world seems so bright,
so vibrant, so lively,
so full of light,
though it's actually lonely,
and dark,
 stuck struggling in a fight.

Through rose tinted glasses,
my eyes see rejoice
and my heart seems to trust it,
and now, there's no choice,
I believe the world good
no matter the cost,
and as you can believe,
many things I have lost.

But my rose tinted glasses,
they're with me to stay,
for I think pink is better
than eternal black
with hints of grey.
