55. You have an opportunity here

HARRY

Harry was working on his shared cubicle, but every once in a while his eyes kept looking at the picture of Milo that he had on the desk. He had taken that picture the night before, and the baby looked so adorable in it, Harry decided to print it to replace the picture of Milo he had on his desk up until yesterday.

The phone of the cubicle rang and Gabby picked it up, said a few words and hanged up.

"Harry, Joe says he needs a word with you in his office" Gabby said turning to him

"Now?" Harry asked.

"Yep" Gabby nodded and continued with her work.

Harry stood up from his chair and went to his boss's office. Joe rarely called him there when it was almost lunch time, he hoped he wasn't going to ask him to do work that was going to make him stay longer. He got to the the office and knocked and when he heard 'come in' he opened the door.

"You wanted to see me?" Harry asked.

"Yes Harry, come in, take a seat" Joe instructed.

That was weird, usually Joe told him what he needed quickly and dismissed Harry. So he got nervous, did he do something wrong and was now getting fired for it? He couldn't afford to get fired now, he had to take care of his family.

He took a seat in front of Joe and waited for him to speak.

"You know, I just realized there is less than a month left of your internship" Joe stated.

"That's right" Harry nodded.

"Have you enjoyed working here these past few months?" Joe wondered.

"Yes, very much" said Harry.

"The reason I'm asking, is because when you started working here, I was told that you were interested in getting a permanent job with us. Am I correct to assume you still want that?" Joseph asked.

"Yes, definitely" Harry said involuntarily moving to the edge of the chair and straightening his back.

"I was almost sure that was going to be your answer" Joe smiled.

"Do you think it will be possible?" Harry asked uncertainly.

"You're getting a great evaluation from me, so you'll definitely be working in this company after the intership ends. I don't know if it will be in this department, or in another one, but you'll have a job " explained Joseph.

"Are you serious?" the curly hair boy asked excited.

"Yes, that's a given, what's important now is, what job are you going to get" Joe said.

"What do you mean?" Harry asked confused.

"You must know by now that the company is opening another office in Liverpool" Joseph said and Harry nodded "There are some people from this and from the London office that are going to go work there, so if you stay here you will get one of the jobs that are going to vacate, but it will probably be a job at the very bottom".

"Well that's what I expected, I'll just have graduated" Harry acknowledged.

"I know, and that's what most people get when they are fresh out of Uni. But you have an opportunity here Harry; if it's okay with you, I would like to recommend you for a job at the new office. If I do that, the job will be yours; they want people there that have worked in the company and know how things work, and not a lot of people are willing to move away. If you say yes, you will get a much better job than you'll get here, which means more money and you will get higher up the chain a lot faster" Joe proposed.
