Draco POV
The school day was long and boring and I couldn’t wait for it to end. Throughout the whole day I noticed a lot of Slytherin whispering and sniggering around me whenever I walked past them. I tried asking Goyle and Crabbe about it during lunch but they just awakwardly laughed and left. Strange. I shall find out what’s going on later. I was thankful that I made it to my last class of the day, which was potions.
I haven’t got a clue what Slughorn is talking about for most of it because there’s only one person on my mind. Hermione Granger. Ever since we called that ‘Truce’ this morning I couldn’t stop thinking about her. The way she smiles, lowers her head when she’s embarrassed and the way her deep brown orbs lock with my own. It’s difficult for any man to shake off the impact she has. People I know would tell me that I should feel ashamed for even associating myself with her let alone call a truce. I thought about what Crabbe and Goyle done to her weeks ago, in that old classroom where I found her, there’s no way anything like that could ever happen again because of me. She doesn’t deserve to get hurt and I will do anything to keep this…. relationship with her hidden. Not only for mine, but for her sake. The thought of anyone causing harm upon her angers me. This is why nobody, absolutely nobody, can find out what went down between us this morning. I know exactly what Slytherin’s are capable of when it comes to muggle heritage and believe me, it isn’t nice.
“Draco Malfoy.” A stern voice which belonged to Slughorn echoed through the classroom. “Please repeat to me what I have just said now.”
Crap. I have not been paying one bit of attention since setting foot into this class. Every head in the room turned to me and an awkward smile played my lips. I rolled my eyes and said in a smooth voice “Uh… In order to make a Volubilis potion you need to-“
“Wrong!” Slughorn angrily set his textbook on the table and gives me a disapproving look. “We aren’t even on the topic of Volubilis potions Mr Malfoy. If you had been listening to my lesson you’d know exactly what I have been teaching for the past thirty-five minutes. If I catch you day dreaming one more time during my class you’ll be forced to stay behind when class ends. This room could do with a nice polish.” He says as strode over to a book shelf and used his finger to wipe dust off the top shelf. “So pay attention!”
I heard Blaise snigger beside me and I shot him daggers. I opened my book to the correct page as Slughorn continued with class. Turns out we’re talking about Polyjuice potions, not Volubilis. I sighed as I sunk back into my seat. There was only fifteen more minutes left of class time, there was no point really in trying to follow what Slughorn was saying.
“Malfoy. Hey!” An unfamiliar voice hissed from behind me. I reluctantly turned in my seat to see an unfamiliar guy from Slytherin. He had long dark hair, tanned skin and an arrogant expression.
“Do I know you?”
He raised his eyebrows. “Yes you know me. We were on the same Quidditch team a few years back. I’m Dean.”
“Well, Dean I don’t recognise you. It was nice chatting to you.” I snap before turning back in my seat before Slughorn tells me off again.
“Ignorant bastard.”
“What did you just call me?” I snarled turning back around. How dare he? I have no clue who this guy even is and he is throwing this insult at me. “Say it again! I dare you.”
I felt a hand snake on my shoulder. “Draco mate just leave it. Turn back around before Slughorn see’s.” The voice belonged to Blaise.
I ignored him. My eyes were fixed on this Dean guy who had amusement spread across his face. “All I want to do is ask you a question Malfoy. No need to be rude.”
