Draco POV

I slowly awoke the next morning and forgot where I was. I look at the small brunette girl laying fast asleep next to me and I remember. The events that took place last night came flooding back. Before Hermione came back to the room I landed myself into a bit of a state. The memories of my past have been haunting me for a while which made me snap. I never planned on cutting myself, it just happened before I even realized. Before I knew it Hermione came back and saw me in that state. I wanted to get away; she didn’t need to see that. But she made me stay and I didn’t fight it. Something about last night made me see things in a different light, words couldn’t express it. But it’s irrelevant; I cannot allow myself to get close to her. I just can’t. I don’t deserve happiness and I sure as hell don’t deserve her. I refused to believe that someone like her could see light inside of me when I see nothing but darkness… This was all too much for me. Quietly I got out of bed, I was careful not to wake the sleeping girl. I felt a small pang of guilt as I left shutting the door firmly behind me. As I was getting dressed I looked at my arm in disgust. No matter what I do, I can’t remove this mark. It’s a constant reminder every day.

Today was Saturday. I scanned my mind for things to do to pass the time. I heard movement coming from Hermione’s bedroom. To avoid awkwardness I quickly left the common room and started to walk aimlessly down the empty school corridors. I soon found myself walking in the direction of my friend Blaise Zabini’s room. I knocked on his door twice before he opened it up, he was surprised to see me.

“Draco” he says “Uh… come in I suppose”

He stood aside for me to come in. I was about to sit when I saw a familiar figure standing at the other side of the room. Her greasy dark hair hung over her shoulders like curtains and her eyes looked as crazy as ever when she saw me. Pansy.

“Pansy just came around to see me” Blaise said “She was very upset after yesterday”

I immediately knew what he was talking about. Pansy obviously told him about what happened yesterday. I roll my eyes

“Pansy, will you give Blaise and I a minute?” I ask not making eye contact

“I don’t see why I should do what you tell me you stupid ungrateful little-“

“Pansy!” Blaise interrupted “I want to talk with Draco in private”

Pansy stubbornly crosses her arms, she shot daggers at me as she walked past and went into the bathroom, leaving Blaise and I alone. I shifted uncomfortably.

I was unsure of what to say. “So… are you angry or what?”

“Angry? Why would I be angry?” he says sarcastically as he lays back on his bed

“You seemed pissy with me when I walked in. What’s the matter?”

Blaise shrugged “You could have done it differently mate… I mean I know Pansy is overwhelming but you have to admit it was harsh.”

“She’ll get over it” I scoffed.

Blaise frowned “I don’t think she will.”

“What do you mean?”

Blaise started to look increasingly uncomfortable “I… it doesn’t matter. Let’s change the topic”

“I’m not talking about anything else until you tell me what you meant” I say “Speak”

Blaise sighed. He sat up from his position and faced me. “Swear you won’t get mad?”

I rolled my eyes “Just tell me”
