The day of the tournament arrived. All four of us met in the garden which was in the middle of our dorm circle.
We were walking towards the Basketball court when Josh said, "SunCoast Kings are sure going to win today!"
"Ah, no! Hailstone Hawks' have had a good amount of practice, this time." Chris added.
And as always, I was confused. I couldn't guess which team belongs to which school. But, as by their names, Hailstone Hawks sounds like our school's team.
We sat on the bleachers and the announcements started few minutes after.
"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. We'd like to welcome the team of SunCoast High School, SunCoast Kings!" The commentator announced.
They were welcomed with a thunderous applause.
And a team of twelve players emerged.
"We welcome SunCoast Kings and their captain, Reece Clyde Parker!"
All the players were immensely confident. And their captain, Reece, God! A perfection. A masterpiece.
"And now we'd like to welcome the Basketball team of our school, Hailstone Vale."
Again, a team of twelve players emerged with a thunderous applause.
"And here, we welcome the Hailstone Hawks along with their captain, Lucas Wilson!"
They too were damn confident. As Chris had said, they have had amazing practice, this time.
As their names suggested, I understood which team was of which school. But I was still confused about the fact that which team needs to target which basket in order to gain points.
And soon, the game started.
Five players of SunCoast High School and five players of Hailstone Vale were on the court.
After a few moments of dribbling, passing and dodging the Basketball, one of the players targeted the opposite basket and gave a shoot. I read his name on his jersey. It said "Evan".
Yes, the basketball landed inside the basket.
Something and the only thing I knew about that game was that we have to hoot and shout when a team gets points.
"Yayyyyy! Woohoo!" I screamed on the top of my voice.
"Oh, man! Nooooo!" The others exclaimed.
It was like, I was happy and rest of the spectators were sad.
And as I shouted, all the eyes turned towards me. I knew I had made a mistake.
The players of both the teams turned towards me. The boys of one team were smiling at me while the other boys had an expression of 'What the hell?' on their faces.
And I sunk back into my seat, avoiding any kind of eye contact.
I mean, of course! I didn't know a word about Basketball. And I meant it!
"Shut up, May. Our team is losing. Why on Earth are you hooting?!" Josh scolded, whispering.
"But I didn't know that, Josh. I thought our team has got a point." I replied, shrugging.
"You are stupid!" Chris commented on what I did. I rolled my eyes at him as a reply to what he commented.
At the end of second quarter, the scores were 29-18.
The SunCoast Kings were leading.
----
Game was about to end and the scores were 45-41.
