After the school was over, at Mrs. Tripathi's office
"Sit down."
"Thank you ma'am." Sarmistha sat on the chair properly and kept her mouth shut.
Mrs. Tripathi signed two more files and then turned to Sarmistha. "Sarmistha, I really liked your writing. Actually, I have a friend who wants a student who can write for children. It's like the Students Corner in a newspaper or a magazine."
Sarmistha understood what she meant and slightly nodded her head.
"So, do you want to do it? I know you are now in class 10. So, I won't force you. If you want to, you can. But keep one thing in mind, your academic achievement is more important."
"I understand ma'am. Thank you for the opportunity. I would love to do it."
"Are you sure?" Mrs. Tripathi sounded so excited.
Sarmistha said firmly, "Yes ma'am."
"Oh dear! You are so sweet. Then it's final. You are joining them."
"Yes!"
"Congratulations to you. Listen, try to learn from them as much as possible. They are very talented people. You won't get this opportunity again and again."
Sarmistha knew it very well. "Yes ma'am."
"Okay. It's getting late. Go home safely." Mrs. Tripathi really liked Sarmistha a lot. Finding such a good student wasn't easy.
Sarmistha thanked her and left the office.
Meanwhile, Disha was waiting in the classroom for Sarmistha.
Sarmistha entered the classroom to take her bag when her eyes fell on a figure sleeping on the bench.
Who is this?
She silently walked ahead and saw Disha sleeping with her brows furrowed. She exclaimed, "Disha!"
"..."
Sarmistha looked at Disha and smiled. She sat in front of her and kept watching her with never seen gentleness and affection.
After a few minutes, the bell rang again. Disha sprang up in fright and hit herself on her wound.
"Ouch!"
Sarmistha stood up in the blink of an eye and returned to her normal self. "What are you doing here?"
Disha snapped. "You are asking me this question? How dare you?"
"What?"
"I was waiting for you. I saw your bag, but not you. So I thought of waiting here."
Sarmistha acted as if nothing happened, but her heart was filled with sweetness. "What about Trina, Rai and Sanchita? Why didn't you go with them?"
"Fine then. I won't wait for you again."
"Hey!"
"Hmph!" Disha took her bag and turned to leave the classroom.
Sarmistha spoke without any thought, "You will walk out like this?"
Disha paused and looked at her. "What do you mean?"
Sarmistha touched the corner of her lips and smiled.
Disha widened her eyes in surprise. "I have something here?"
Sarmistha had a 'YES DEAR. MOREOVER, IT'S NOT A GOOD SIGHT.' expression.
Disha wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.
"Now?"
"Still there."
Disha wiped again.
"Still there."
"Argh! Help me!" She growled.
Sarmistha was more than happy to do so. She wiped her mouth with her handkerchief and stood back after she was done.
"Done?"
"Hmm."
"Let's go. I am so hungry."
"Okay." Sarmistha took Disha's bag and left with her.
.....
At Sarmistha's house
Sarmistha entered the house while humming and dancing. Mrs. Ganguly squinted her eyes at Sarmistha.
"Misti, what's the matter? You look so happy."
Sarmistha was about to tell her mother about the incident at school about her and Disha but stopped.
*phew*
Thank god I didn't spill the tea. But should I keep hiding this from my parents? They don't like this. After class 12, I will tell them everything. If I do good in boards, maybe they will accept it.
"Maa, actually Mrs. Tripathi called me to her office today."
"What did you do?"
"Maa, it's not for punishment! Seriously!" She looked dumbfounded.
Mrs. Ganguly cleared her throat. "Okay. Fine, fine, fine. Now tell the rest."
"Okay." Sarmistha also turned excited. She hurriedly told her everything and posed as if she won Miss Universe.
