dakota awoke to the sun shining in her eyes, it creeping through a crack and enlightening the whole stone building. she groggily lifted her head from the pillow, wincing at the pain that shot through her neck due to the way she slept. dakota sat up, the thin blanket falling down off her shoulders making the coldness of the room attack her.

the brunette glanced down, quickly realising she was in the same clothes from the night prior. then she realised she was curled up in a familiar lime green armchair. dakota's head snapped around the environment with frantic eyes, standing from the chair.

"no," she mumbled in disbelief, eyes scanning for something with the time.

dakota soon saw a watch she assumed spike had stolen tossed to the side of the room, her hands scrambling to see what the time was. luckily for the girl she had half an hour before her art class and hopefully no one noticed her absence all evening.

"spike?" dakota called out, grabbing up her boots and roughly pulling them onto her feet, fumbling to tie the laces. "spike!".

there was no response. she assumed he was either in a deep sleep or out somewhere, though she wouldn't know where given it was the early morning.

throwing on sawyer's varsity jacket, which she had recently replaced her denim with, she left the crypt in a hurry, praying to get back to her dorm in time. dakota cursed herself for sleeping at spike's. she hadn't planned on it, she must've just fallen asleep after watching passions. although her heart did flutter slightly at the idea of spike allowing her to stay in his crypt overnight.

dakota turned the corner to the hallway that lead to her dorm but instantly stopped when she saw a familiar set of raven locks at her door. praying he hadn't noticed her, dakota turned on her heel but of course he had seen the brunette.

"dakota!" he called, watching her try to sneak away with a furrowed brow.

the girl scrunched up her face in irritation, gradually turning back with a plastered on smile, "hey, baby".

"where have you been?" sawyer asked, clearly annoyed himself, "you were supposed to come to by mine last night and never showed. what happened?".

dakota stopped in front of him, immediately going to open the door so he didn't start a scene in the middle of the corridor. "i got caught up with stuff," she lied, walking into the room with sawyer right behind her, "i was gonna call but i forgot. i'm sorry".

"lainie said you haven't been home all night," said sawyer, extremely displeased, slamming the door behind him.

"yeah, i crashed at a friends," dakota shrugged, slipping off his jacket, refusing to look at him.

"what friend? because buffy and willow weren't in last night and haven't been in this morning either".

dakota frowned whilst she gathered her art supplies for class, "i have other friends, you know".

sawyer clapped his hands together, taking two large steps closer to dakota. "then do share. who is this friend?" he used air quotes as he spoke.
