dakota lay flat on her back, hands resting on her stomach as she stared blankly at the ceiling. she hadn't spoken to any of the scooby gang since last night. she hadn't spoken to spike either, she was still mad at him and really didn't want to be around him at the moment.

she couldn't figure out why he had told xander. she thought he liked it staying between them, it was only a friendship after all. her mind was all over the place and was about to scatter even more.

lainie entered the dorm, sighing when she saw dakota. she knew about the argument and didn't like seeing dakota so upset by it.

"still not buds yet, huh?" lainie questioned as she sat on the end of dakota's bed. the girl hummed in response, eyes remaining glued to the ceiling. "they'll get over it soon enough," the raven haired rubbed dakota's leg comfortingly. dakota didn't respond, she just continued to stare.

"this is probably something you don't wanna hear right now," lainie started sheepishly, "but sawyer's on his way up here... and he doesn't look happy".

dakota groaned, rubbing her hands over her face. she really didn't want to deal with him at the moment.

before either girl got to say something more on the matter, their door opened without any hesitation, sawyer striding in. the second her eyes landed on him, dakota shot up, a concerned frown settled on her face.

"i'll leave you two alone," lainie practically whispered, quietly leaving the room.

dakota took in an unneeded breath, "wanna tell me what happened to your face?".

"i don't know," sawyer shrugged, "was kinda hoping you could tell me".

dakota gave him a confused look, "what are you talking about?".

"some british guy with hair brighter than the sun paid me a visit last night," sawyer growled with irritation, pointing to his very busted lip, swollen black eye and many other bruises scattered along his face and jaw.

"and after he was done beating the crap outta me, said i should stay away from you... any idea's, princess?".

dakota was speechless for a few moments, "he did that?".

she stood up, getting a better look at his battered face. then her heart dropped and she took a large step back from the boy, her face contorting into many different emotions. "he did that," she muttered to herself.

"uh-huh".

dakota dropped down to sit on her bed in shock, realisation consuming her, her eyes opening to see a new sawyer.

"well, judging by your reaction, you know who this guy is. mind sharing with the rest of us?" sawyer spat bitterly, eyes burning through dakota.

"uhm... yeah. he's- he's from my english class".

"the guy you stayed with," sawyer noted, clicking his tongue.

"it's- it's not like that, sawyer, okay? i know what it looks like but i promise... i have no idea why he came to you and did... that," dakota's voice was rather shaky while she tried to process everything and keep her boyfriend from getting mad. she didn't know what he was but she knew he wasn't human.
