Emica's POV:

For the first time in two years, I had a dream. It was a strange dream that didn't take place anywhere familiar. In the dream, there was a man and a woman who looked familiar. They smiled down at me and seemed to be whispering happy things. The man got a troubled look in his eye, while the woman began fading away. She dissolved completely from the dream, leaving the man and I weeping at the loss of her.

All at once there were bright lights. Invisible people were sticking me with tubes and needles. I wanted to scream at the pain.

The man came back and the pain dissolved. He lifted me into his strong arms and carried me bridal style away. My eyes closed for a minute and opened again. I could feel the man carrying even more than I could feel the needles. I curled up against him, now knowing who it was.

Dad.

My eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the faint light that sprang from the windows. I was so comfortable it seemed impossible to ever get out of the cozy bed.

Bed?

I sat up and saw I was, indeed, on the bed; but hadn't I fallen asleep on the couch?

I directed my gaze to the couch where I saw Ren lying. Myra was occupying the bed next to mine.

I had thought Ren was asleep, but then he looked over at me.

"Morning."

"How did I get here?" I asked dazedly. My mind still hadn't woken up and so I was prone to asking questions.

"You didn't really think I was going to let you take the couch, did you?" Ren smirked and leaned back leisurely.

"You...you moved me?"

"Your friend was furious." He snickered. "Did you have sweet dreams?"

"Why?" I inquired suspiciously. Something in his tone made me think I must have done or said something silly.

"When I was moving you to the bed, you said you missed me." Ren answered carelessly, however his eyes were dancing with mischief.

I had thought that dream felt a little too real...

"No. No dreams at all." I replied evenly.

"Aw, so you were awake when you cuddled up against me and asked me not to leave again?"

"Of COURSE she wasn't!" Myra groaned as she rolled out of bed. "Sometimes people sleep talk. We'll be glad when you leave, right Yue?"

"Too bad for you then. I'm one of Yue's party members." Ren smirked at Myra.

"WHAT!?" Myra jumped up. "Well....well...ugh. Whatever." She sighed, clearly flustered.

"Sorry." I mumbled sheepishly. Ren seems to like to brag about everything.

"SO!" Ren leapt off the couch. "Breakfast on me?"

"Are you going to pay for all of our meals?" Myra raised an eyebrow.

"Hm...depends on how expensively you girls eat. I can't afford to be eaten out of your companionship." Ren answered.

Myra's eyes glinted evilly. She stretched and then made her way out of the room. "I'm going to order breakfast now."

I glanced at Ren. He didn't look the slightest bit concerned about Myra ordering breakfast.

"You do know she's going to order the most expensive food they have." I said worriedly.
