Emica's POV:
I heard a feint, pulsing beep. It almost matched the pace of my racing heartbeat.
The sound grew quieter and quieter until I could no longer hear it. Then something snapped and my brain turned back on. My eyes were heavy and sore, but I managed to open them a little. The world that met them looked fuzzy. Where was I? Hadn't I just been outside yelling at Ren? And then...
Nothing. Had I blacked out?
I knew I should probably get up, but I was too comfortable. I tried to move a little but failed. My throat emitted a small waking up sound. As soon as it had, someone's hand began caressing my hair, which was hanging loosely about my face. The hand belonged to an arm which was laid around my shoulder and belonged to Ren. My cheek lay against the front of his shoulder in a way that was no comfortable for my neck. My body wouldn't move at all. The only movement I was capable of was blinking, and yawning apparently.
"You awake?" Ren's voice asked.
"I don't think so..." I mumbled sleepily. I couldn't be awake, otherwise I would be able to move.
I saw a shimmer of light as Myra appeared in the room. Ren's hand immediately dropped from my hair. "Wow, that only took nine and a half hours."
"Look I'm sorry, okay? My mom and dad found me out so I have to go to school still. Unfortunately I didn't find anything." Myra smirked. "Looks like you had a comfortable night."
"I have to convince my parents I'm sick. Rey is going to help me so it shouldn't take long. I'll be right back." Ren stood up and left the room, while I slumped against the couch now that he was gone, still unable to move.
"Are you okay?" Myra sat next to me. "Do you feel any better?"
"What are you talking about?" I wailed. "Why can't I move?"
"You can't move?" Myra looked worried.
"No, what happened? Why are you and Ren trying to miss school?"
"You don't remember last night?"
"No...please tell me what happened." I begged. Then I felt something click and I was able to move again.
I don't really know what happened exactly." Myra admitted. "But you kind of went delusional last night so I went to look up what might have happened, while Ren stayed to watch over you. I came back around ten but you two were all cuddled up sleeping."
I flushed. "What time is it?"
"Five forty-two."
That felt like a long time to be alone with Ren. "Did I do anything weird?" I tied my hair back in its usual ponytail.
"You said a bunch of random stuff, but again I wasn't around for most of the night." Myra nodded.
I sighed. It felt like I got more issues as the days went by, and none of the old one's were getting resolved.
We sat for a while, waiting. Then I heard footsteps. Ren had come back looking a little smug, but mostly worried. "I should have signed up for acting school, that was the best sickness I ever faked."
"What did you do, give yourself a concussion?" Myra rolled her eyes.
"Fake throw up actually. Then I fell down the stairs. Mom started freaking out and I told her that I was okay and needed to get ready for school, but she told me to go right back upstairs and stay there." Ren smirked. "Rey helped me make the throw up. It's amazing what you can do with oatmeal and various nasty colored things."
