The woods were filled with foliage and life, which was unaware that it didn't exist. Birds twittered about while squirrels gossiped and fought over nuts and berries. Both occupants of the forest scrambled for cover once they heard someone approaching.
A girl came tip-toeing through the ancient trees. She looked about dazedly, not quite sure how she had come to be where she was. She had a small messenger bag and a carefully hidden dagger. Neither of which she knew the purpose of or why she owned them. The wood was still, the only noise was of the girl's light footfalls and the swish of her dress.
A small beast jumped out from behind a tree. It looked quite a bit like a frog-like goblin with it's long arms and sharp teeth. A pig like snout and pointed flopping ears twitchedIt growled at the girl and came sluggishly closer.
The girl screamed and threw her knife at it.
A few minutes afterwards, the girl walked on; very much disturbed by the previous event. Evidently she would have to learn to wield a weapon in this violence loving world.
The sight of a small town sent a thrill through her. Perhaps someone there could help her! Perhaps she could learn what to do with the supplies in her bag and how to use her knife properly.
The girl didn't know it, but there were five others who were just as confused by their whereabouts as she was.
