HINATA

Kageyama throws the band-aid wrapper into a trash can outside the nurse's office.

"We should head back now..." He says as he walks past me, strolling casually down the vacant hallway and expecting me to follow behind.

I don't.

Instead, I freeze.

I can feel my heartbeat pounding heavily through my ears.

What is this?

Why is my face so warm? Why is my heart beating so fast?

And why did my stomach feel so queasy just now?

Oh no! Did the guitar string poison me when I cut my finger on it earlier?

No...

I think for a moment.

But as I watch Kageyama head down the corridor, all tall with his broad shoulders and tan skin and stupid pretty hair, I realize that it's the same feeling as last time.

Because...What just happened?

Kageyama.

Kageyama just happened.

While the back of his head grows smaller and smaller, the gap between us growing wider, I notice we're now on complete opposite ends of the hall.

I watch him as he stops, hesitates, then turns around. He seems surprised when he discovers that I'm so far behind him.

"Hey."

Kageyama's deep voice brings me back into the present. I almost flinch.

"Do we need to go back to the nurse?"

I shake my head. "H-huh?"

"Did you hit your head too?"

He laughs, and the smile on his face immediately makes my cheeks grow warm. I look down at my feet so he can't see how red my face must be right now.

This isn't a good time to be all giddy, Shoyo! Darn it! Control your feelings!

My feelings...For...

"Hurry up, dingbat. We have to get back to practice."

I look back up at Kageyama.

...

"Dingbat?!"

He ignores me, looking back ahead, and starts walking again.

"Wait! You meanie. What kinda insult is that..." Huffing, I chase after him and we make our way back to the music room.

I pull my bike into the rack closest to the school's entrance. Once it's locked in, I take a moment to breathe in the cold morning air and stare at the large building before me.

Today is a pretty chilly day for the middle of April. Luckily I remembered to put on a sweatshirt earlier, or else biking to and from school would be pretty painful.

Almost everyone has already gone inside, but not everyone. Meaning I'm not late today, which is good.

Recently, I've been taking too much time getting to school without realizing it. So every morning that I see everyone's already filed inside, it's a race to attempt to reach the first period before the bell rings (...and many attempts have failed).

I really do need to get a watch or something.

As I try to imagine what time it must be, I notice Kageyama standing right by Karasuno's two main doors.
