HINATA

I sit idly on my bedroom floor, staring at the guitar case sitting in the far corner.

Many hours have passed since I received the guitar, and yet...

I still haven't removed it from its case.

It's not like I'm not excited. I am. But at the same time, I'm anxious. Which is making me a bit reluctant.

I mean, I'm sure Ukai did a great job fixing it up. That's not the issue. It's just...

I wonder if I should have taken it out of the closet in the first place.

This was my father's guitar, you know? Even if he didn't use it as a musician would, it was still his. It was still something that was important to him. Maybe I should've just...tried to preserve it?

Minutes pass, and I continue to battle with the thoughts plaguing my head.

Would he have been upset?

Did I ruin it?

Did I ruin this--this memory of his, one I no longer have? One I can't get back?

Oh god.

This was a bad idea.

I feel lightheaded.

My heart starts to pound.

My breathing suddenly feels heavy before my throat begins to close up, and I grab at it desperately, struggling to breathe.

What's wrong with me.

Minutes pass, and I lay there, my cheek resting on the cold hardwooded floors.

My face is wet, with sweat, with tears, I'm not sure. I wipe my face, sit up, and I take the guitar, still covered, from its corner.

And then, I do the only thing I think to do at that moment.

I pick up my phone.

...

"Hinata?" A voice comes through the phone, muffled but there. My chest suddenly feels lighter.

"...Can you come over?"

I hear a knock on my door.

"Come in," I say, wiping my face with my sleeve.

I watch the door open and close again from the corner of my eye. Someone walks in. I look up.

Kageyama's eyes search the room. "So this is where you live." I nod.

His eyes meet mine, and I notice his face turn slightly red. I almost laugh, surprised at how easy he is to read at this moment.

"Hi," He says.

"Hey," I say back.

He frowns. "Is something wrong?"

"What do you mean?"

"It's just...You look..."

Rather than finishing his sentence, he simply shakes his head then sits down next to me, criss-cross rather than with his legs folded inside his arms, like me.
