I went with Rebekah to the school so she didn't have to clean up alone. I felt bad that her mother took over one of the most important times of her life, the one chance she had at this point to feel like a regular teenager for a night and her mother took it over with the intention to kill her.

Carolone walks in as we pick up trash with our trash cans.

"Where's Matt?" She asks.

"Got called into work at the last minute" Rebekah replied.

"So it's just us three?" Caroline asks, clearly upset.

"Yes, and you're late" Rebekah says.

"Don't make it sound like torture" I say.

"The cleanup committee started at eight" Rebekah says.

"It's 8:02" Caroline replies, checking her phone.

"Exactly. I managed to show up on time and I didn't even get to attend the dance that I organized" Rebekah says.

"Yes while everyone else got to dance around happily as can be, Rebekah was daggered by her own mother who tried to kill her" I add, just as passive aggressive.

"I'm sorry about your mom" Caroline says as Rebekah empties the small bin into a larger garbage can.

I rolled my eyes.

"I mean, I know you, like, hated her and everything, but still. I'm sorry" She says.

Rebekah sighs.

"Sorry about your teacher, he seemed like a nice guy" Rebekah says.

"Yeah, he was," Caroline replied.

It was awkward for a moment.

"I'm going to get started on the gym," Rebekah says quietly before leaving me alone with Caroline.

I listen to Rebekah leave, in the hallway she stops for a moment.

"You're supposed to be dead"

"I am"

Mr. Saltzman?

I look at Caroline, who I assumed was listening too.

Without another word we speed into the hallway and catch him trying to dagger Rebekah.

"No!" I yelled, ripping them apart and shoving him against the lockers, Caroline turns the stake on him and shoves it into his chest.

We all backup and stare at him clutching the dagger that was now embedded into his chest.

He takes it out of himself.

Oh hell no.

We all got the same idea and ran.

Caroline speeds out of the front door to sprint to her car, I push Rebekah through the hallways trying to find another way out.

I feel myself get snatched from behind, I struggle against them until they hold the dagger to my chest and I stop.

Rebekah turns around and is about to fight him.

"Rebekah no! Run! Go get help. I'll be okay" I say.

She hesitates, then nods, and speeds away.

I'm dragged back to a classroom where I'm tied to a chair and pencils are stabbed through my hands into the desk.

"Stay here" he says, then leaves me alone in there.

Minutes later he drags in Caroline, unconscious and restrains her the same way he restrains me.
