Klaus hands me his phone as he goes to talk to one of the people he had digging holes for him.

He had a message on there but I didn't pay attention to it because I didn't want to pry into his business.

One of the hybrids called my phone then, I picked up immediately.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Connor escaped" They replied without pause.

"What!" I exclaimed.

Klaus hears this and walks back over to me as I hang up on the hybrid while watching him approach.

He kissed me on the forehead when he reached me.

"What's wrong, Natalia?" He asks.

"One of the hybrids called me and told me that Connor escaped" I replied.

Klaus sighs, looking more annoyed than upset.

I hand him his phone and he texts Stefan, who calls him not long after.

"How the hell did Connor escape?" He asks when Klaus answered the phone.

"I blame mind-numbing incompetence, but pointing fingers isn't going to help me, you're going to help me," Klaus says as he starts to walk away and pulls me with him.

"Well, he could be anywhere right now" Stefan replied.

"Think, Stefan. Think. He took the hybrid's head, which means he wants werewolf toxin" Klaus says to Stefan as if he's speaking to a child.

"Which means he plans to stay in Mystic Falls to kill vampires" Stefan replied.

"Which is a pity. As I'm half a world away digging up a dead hunter, you'll have no access to my blood, and therefore the antidote. Nevertheless, his tattoo is the only map to the cure, so your task is quite simple. Find him, catch him, and above all keep him alive. He's no good to us dead" Klaus explains.

"Damon's been looking everywhere for him. If they cross paths..."

"You need to keep Damon in check," Klaus says.

"It would be a lot easier if I could tell him the truth," Stefan replied.

"He shouldn't trust Damon" I mouth, placing a hand on Klaus' shoulder.

"You trust Damon with the cure? I imagine he prefers Elena the way she is" Klaus asked as he made eye contact with me.

"Nice try Klaus, but I trust Damon a hell of a lot more than I trust you" Stefan replied.

Everyone knew to a certain point that wasn't true. When it came to Elena, it was fair game. It was obvious that Damon preferred vampire Elena. Why wouldn't he? She's just like him.

"And I trust no one, which is why my sister is lying daggered in a box. The more who find out about the cure, the more will go after it. Nations have gone to war over less, mark my words. Tell one soul and I will throw the hunter's sword in the Meditarainian and we can end this quest right now. Am I understood?" Klaus asks Stefan.

It was quiet for a moment as Stefan thought about Klaus' words.

I think about them too, if Klaus really trusted no one then who's to say that one day he won't shove a stake through my heart, no matter how much he claims to care about me.

Stefan hangs up, I assume that means he gets the message.

"Natalia, I have a favor to ask you," Klaus says looking at me.
