It's only been 3 days since Cap's injury, but it's feels more of an eternity. You anxiously pace back and forth outside the recovery room where Steve is being treated. The more you worried, the faster you paced
"Y/N, calm down. He'll be alright" Bucky explains, distressed
"How can I not worry James? He's injured because of me!" You exclaim
Barnes abandons his leaning spot on the wall to hug you. You don't retreat and lightly cry. Bruce comes out shortly there after
"Bruce, you better tell us he's okay" You state
"Cap's fine. You may see him" He gets out of the way
You enter the recovery room to find a still Steve laying on the bed. You find a chair to sit down in and Bucky takes that as his cue to leave. You stare at him, who has a black shirt and blue jeans on, with tremendous guilt
"I'm so sorry Steve..." You whisper, almost crying again
You put your hand on his arm. You suddenly detect movement. The soldier opens his eyes
"You have nothing to be sorry for kid. I'm the one whose apologizing" He admits
"I.. had a dream about us" You start
Steve blushes
"I couldn't sleep while we were on our way to fight Destroyer so I went outside to the stream and you came along. We talked for a bit and I.." You blush, too embarrassed to finish
"I had the same dream" Cap speaks up
"Oh"
Silence
"Steve, what am I to you?" You question
Cap places his hand on your cheek, you lean in...
You kiss
Your eyes widen with shock. It isn't a dream. It's real. You kiss him back. Pulling away, Cap answers
"The love of my life" He smiles
