When my mom called me downstairs she had dinner set out on the table.
"Oh wow Thank you!!!"
I sit down across from her

"So what have you been up to lately?"
"Nothing much, but hey can I tell you something or get your advice?"
"Yes of course what is it?"

I take a deep breath

"I want to confess to Clay..."

I could hear my mom take a sharp inhale
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I think so..."
"Are you completely sure, you know I support you but I need to know if you're ready for the consequences that may come from it"
"Listen this goddamn feeling has been holding me back for a year now and this weight that's been on my chest, I want it to go away."

She comes over and kisses my forehead and then throws her dishes in the sink
