Life's never predictable in my perspective.
But damn,
for these two boys it sure as hell isn't.
One moment you could be playing hide-and-seek tag in a forest, and the next you could be walking the streets of downtown four years later after having kissed each other a few days prior.
And let me say, that's probably the last thing they expected.
"so..what should we do?" George asked, a look of anticipation smeared across his face. It was the last day of all things so they had to make it count (as they've said multiple times) "I've actually had something planned for a while now" Clay replied and received a curious glance as a reply.
"There's this place near the docs that not a lot of people know about, it even took me a while to find it."
"Is that so? Well show me the way."
And so, the two boys joined hand in hand walking through the arcane alleyways and off-roads towards this so called place. It was still early morning, the wisps of dawn slowly disappearing and being replaced by sun fully taking over the sky.
Once they finally arrived George could finally take in the whole scenery of the location. It was a small beach area with a bench looking straight out onto the water, and small wild flowers scattered here and there which somehow were lively and growing despite the sand.
"Wow..." Was the only word that left George's mouth as he entered into the small area, which Clay following closely behind.
"It's beautiful! How come you didn't show this to me sooner?"
"Well, I was planning to but i'm glad I waited. It seems like this is a better last day thing. It's not that impressive..." Clay replied.
George wasn't over reacting.
As Clay said, the area itself may have been simple but the view definitely wasn't. The sun finally broke through the clouds letting the early morning light finally cast through and bounce off the both of them. Birds could be seen for at least a mile out, circling the body of water and resting on the buoys.
Making their way over to the bench, both of the boys sat and not only appreciated each other's comfortable silence but also the view.
"You know....This whole trip has been a life changer for me." George said.
Clay nodded his head and turned towards George waiting for him to continue.
"Like, i've definitely stepped out of my comfort zone multiple times. From traveling over here, to screaming it was your birthday in a restaurant. Hell! Kissing you was definitely something new!" George exclaimed as he jokingly threw his hands over his head.
"But I think the thing that changed me the most over this trip was that sometimes, sometimes, life might actually go the way we want it to. Even if it takes a hell of a journey to make it happen."
"You know what?" Clay asks.
"What?"
"I don't think you'll ever understand how grateful I was, and still am, that you're here at all. When you suddenly left I was so scared I did something wrong but I guess it was just you over thinking shit-"
"Hey no need to call me out."
Clay chuckled, "But besides that, look where we are now. Little us used to be scared of what the future would hold but damn, if this was the future I was always going to have i'm glad it turned out the way it was supposed to.
The comfortable silence set back over the beach as the two boys stared off at the view and (occasionally) side-eyeing each other.
Slowly their hands reached out and brushed up against each other's, with only a few moments of hesitation, their fingers interlocked.
It was only a simple motion that somehow reassured so much. Reassured the both of them that this is really happening and it's not a dream or a fantasy, it's real.

Not tons of things were spoke of during this time, but sooner than later it was time to continue on with their day. With a slight kiss to George's forehead, Clay reached for his hand once again and walked with him towards what ever else he had planned.
And once again, they were back to the drawing board.
"So what now?" Clay asks.
"Fantastic question.....Why don't we just walk until we see something interesting?"
"I'm good with that."
So they continued walking through the city looking for something that might peak their interest. But, their search was interrupted when someone tapped Clays shoulder.
Looking over it seemed to be a woman with a kid hand-in-hand.
"I'm sorry, but do you happen to know where the nearest restaurant is?"
"Oh! Yeah of course! I believe there's actually one around the corner...just go down this street then turn left." Clay responded.
"Thank you so much!"
As she was about to walk away, the lady turned around once more. "You two are a very cute couple by the way!"
That sent both of the boys to instantly look at each-other, a flustered look smeared across both of their faces.
"Or were not-" George started, but looking down at both of their connected hands he stopped in his tracks. Before Clay could also put his input in the lady and her kid already walked off.
So. after the sudden call out, both of them stood in the middle of the sidewalk still trying to go over the situation.
"Hey-"
"Hey...." Clay replied.
"What in the world are we?"
