a/n: HAPPY PRIDE MONTH EVERYONE!!!! REMINDER THAT THIS IS A SAFE PLACE FOR EVERYONE AND THAT YOU'RE ALL ACCEPTED HERE!! MWAH MWAH
George pov
Ive had this day marked in my calendar for four years.
Waiting for the day I could celebrate it the right way, with the person this day is dedicated to.
And damn, it's about time.
"Get your ass out of the bed!" I shout into the room across the hall.
"Five more minutes???" Clay responds.
"We've been waiting four years for this! Five more minutes my ass."
Sooner than later Clay appears from his room with the epitome of bed head.
"oh my god....you look rough"
"Oh shut it! Why did you wake me up so early!? It's only 8!"
"What's the date?" I ask.
"Why are you asking me.......oh"
"Yep! It's your birthday! Now get dressed we're going out for breakfast."
"Sooo...where are we heading?"
"You'll see....It's a surprise!"
Clay is sitting in the passenger seat of his car, which he graciously let me drive.
The other day I researched several restaurants and cafes that somehow resembled the place he dragged me into on my birthday all those years ago and finally found the perfect spot.
Pulling into the parking lot I start up a conversation.
"Remember when you pulled me back into that one cafe and yelled that it was my birthday...?"
"God don't remind me....wait...why is that relevant?" Clay asks.
I look over at him and give a smirk.
"You wouldn't dare."
"Oh, but I would dear Clay"
I grab his hand before he could run away pulling him into the front door of the building and muster up some courage myself.
"George wait let's rethink this we're literally adults-"
He can try to persuade me all he wants but I was adamant with what I was about to do.
"HELLO!! I WAS WONDERING IF THERE WAS A FREE SEAT?! It's this guys BIRTHDAY right here!!"
By the time we got to our seat a visible blush of embarrassment was set across Clay's face.
"So this is how you felt...?" he questioned.
"Oh yes, it was horribly embarrassing."
"Never knew karma was real until now...."
"Okay, okay i'm sorry...."
. . .
The night flew by with different conversations and enjoying eachother a company.
But finally, we finished our meal and left the restaurant after apologizing to the owner about our walk-in introduction.
"I swear to god I thought the owner was going to fist fight you right then and there!" Clay said. I put my arms up and pretended to punch the air.
"I could have taken them."
Through a small laugh Clay replied with, "Not in a million years."
We walked through the small downtown pointing out different shops and sculptures.
The street lights started to flicker on when the distinct orange and red's of the sunset started to peek through.
"You know what?" I ask.
"what?"
"I'm really glad we got to see each other again."
"You've said that about fifty times now."
I look over at him and grab his hand.
"Is there a problem with that?"
Clay looks down at our connected hands and squeezes a little tighter.
"Not at all."
"Hey Clay?"
"Yeah?"
I look over at him again and smile, appreciating every second of this moment.
The atmosphere, our hands held tight together,
and the fact that he's even in my presence at all.
"Happy birthday"
