"Kuya! Ayokong magpakasal."
Paulit-ulit kong untas sa kapatid ko, but he's not listening to me.
I went straight to their house after my class. We're inside kuya Kios' office. Kuya is sitting on his swivel chair, while I'm standing infront of his big office table.
"That's what tatay wants, Shan..."
No, it's what everyone wants.
"Hindi din naman ako magiging alpha, diba? Bakit kailangan ko pang sundin ang tradisyon na iyon at magpakasal sa mate ko? I don't even know him, kuya."
"You have too, Shan..." Kuya sighed. "I don't regret marrying your ate Nari even though she's not my mate, but I don't want that to happen to you... Ayokong pati ikaw mapagalitan ng council."
Napaurong ako. I just bit my lower lip, remembering how my brother and the girl he loves suffered because of our werewolf tradition. How my whole family suffered, para lang matuloy ang kasal nila. Halos alisin na si kuya ng council sa pamilya namin kung hindi lang nagmakaawa ang magulang namin. Kapalit noon, naging miyembro si tatay ng council.
I went with him at the Amazon forest when I'm 12 years old. When I turned 15, he and nanay left me there and went to Europe to fulfill his duty as a werewolf council. Hindi na namin sila nakita ulit simula noon. I'm 18 when I came back home to kuya cause he asked me to find my mate and also to finish my studies.
We're still trying our best to communicate with our parents.
Napayuko ako, iniisip kung ano na ang sunod na gagawin...
"Go help your ate Nari at the kitchen... dito kana maghapunan." Ani kuya Kios.
I took a deep breath and nodded. Tapos lumabas na ako at iniwan si kuya sa office nya.
"Shan..." Tawag sa akin ni ate Nari.
Kakalabas nya lang din galing kusina. I smiled at her, then my eyes went down to her tummy. Ate Nari is 8 months pregnat with their first baby.
Nahirapan si ate Nari magbuntis kahit bata pa naman sila. The doctor said that she's really stress, samahan pa ng anxiety at depression nya dahil sa nangyari sa pamilya namin. Ilang taon silang naghitay ni kuya. I'm so happy for them. Finally, their wish came true. And ate Nari looks healthier and happier now. Mas lalo din syang gumanda.
"Ate..." Nilapitan ko sya. I gentle hug her. "You look even more prettier now. Naku, lalong ma-in-inlove si kuya sayo nyan."
We both giggled.
"Bolera ka din kagaya ng kuya mo, ano."
"Of course, kanino pa ba ako magmamana?"
"Dito ka ba magdi-dinner?"
I nodded at ate Nari.
She smiled bigger. "Buti nalang. Niluto ko ang mga paborito mo."
