Tahimik lang ako habang nasa byahe kami. Lumilipad ang isip ko dahil sa ginawang paghalik sa akin ni Silas. Gusto nya na ba ako?
I know Silas. Madaming babae ang umaaligid sakanya, pero hindi nya ito papansinin kung hindi sya interesado. I felt his cold treatment when I first came to their house, maybe because I'm just a babysitter, but everything changed when he got sick and I'm the one who took care of him.
I turned to Howl, and he's just staring outside the window silently...What's your dad doing to me, anak?
"We're here," Silas said.
Hindi ko napansin na nakarating na pala kami sa venue ng wedding anniversary. The venue is held at one of their rest house, just 1 hour away from our house.
Silas went out of the car, bubuksan ko narin sana ang pinto para makalabas, pero naunahan nya ako.
"T-thank you, si...Silas."
Silas just smiled at me, then binuksan nya naman ang backseat door para ilabas si Howl.
"D-dadalhin ko na p--ba ang bag ni Howl?" I asked Silas.
He looked at me. "Maybe later. We can ask a helper to get it for us if we need it. Let's greet Mr. and Mrs. Young first."
Tumango ako.
Silas started walking while carrying Howl, I just followed them. Nang makapasok na kami sa loob ng venue ay namangha kaagad ako sa designs and motif ng party. Green, white at silver ang mga color ng decorations. It's simple but elegant and classic. Ang 30th Wedding Anniversary cake ay puno ng pearls at flowers.
Kung hindi ko kaya iniwan si Silas, aabot din kaya kami ng ganito katagal?
"Dalena..." Silas called me that took my attention back.
"B-bakit?"
"Come here and hold my arm." Aniya na ikinabigla ko.
I looked at his arm. "Eh karga mo na si Howl, b-baka m-mahirapan ka?"
"I won't tell you to hold me if I'm struggling. And Howl is not that heavy..." He answered.
Anong hindi mabigat? Hindi lang mukhang mataba si Howl pero kapag matagal mo syang buhat ay mararamdam mo na ang bigat nya.
Hindi na ako nakipagtalo at ginawa nalang ang inutos ni Silas. I held his right arm while he's carrying Howl on his left arm. Pero, ako lang ba? Simula kasi nang pagpasok namin, pinagtitinginan na kami ng ibang bisita. I tried to listen to some of their conversations...
"Is that Silvanus Aubertin and his son?"
"Oo. Grabe, bata palang ang gwapo na, ano?"
"But who's that girl with them? Is that his wife?"
"Of course not. He's a widow at 26."
My attention went back to Silas when he talked to me. "There's Mr and Mrs. Young..."
Sinundan ng mga mata ko kung saan nakatingin si Silas. I saw the Young couple talking to their other guests.
"Let's go to them..." Maglalakad na sana si Silas papunta sa mag-asawa pero bahagya ko syang hinila pabalik.
"D-dito nalang ako, Silas...K-kayo nalang ni Howl ang bumati kina Mr. at Mrs. Young..." Sambit ko.
