Sara Bareilles: I Choose You
"There was a time when I would've believed them, if they'd told me you could not come true just love's illusion. But then you found me and everything changed and I believe in something again."
Epilogue.
Pain, it's something that everyone avoids. They run at the first signs of it. But for some, running isn't an option; you just have to suck it up. All you can do is just sit as it comes upon you and there comes a stage when pain is the only thing that reminds you that you're alive.
But d'you know what the best thing about pain is?
You know that it will pass. You can bet on it. For some unfortunate ones, the pain only goes after their last breath, for others it may take, hours, days or even years. Everything comes with an expiration date, be it happiness, sadness, anger, despair or in this case: pain. But that doesn't mean it won't show up again. Oh no. I assure you, it will be return. It might not be as severe as the last time, or it might be way worse, but pain will always find its way back. You just need to hold on telling yourself that it will pass.
It wasn't all rainbows and unicorns for Julie after that. Her past was haunting, but she learnt that life is like a monkey climb, you need to let go of the past in order to move on.
After Julie's confession to Zayn, the following days were harder. They had to go through all the police interrogations about Ben's abusing. They finally won, Ben was now behind bars, it left Greta devastated but on explaining what happened, she understood. She knew it had to be done even though it was her own husband. Zayn's father was able to pull some strings to get Julie a free room in the girl's dormitories and she worked as a waitress in Places for the remaining time to earn some extra bucks.
Graduation was over three weeks ago. The first week was spend with Zayn and his family in Brighton and the remaining two were spent at his family's farm-house in Bradford. Two weeks spent in pure bliss and love. She was on the top of the world at the moment. Just yesterday she had received an acceptance letter from Yale telling her that she'd gotten a full scholarship to study post-graduate. And she'd be working as a free-lance writer in a newspaper agency which meant she'd have enough money to take care of herself. Things were finally falling right on place and a celebration was overdue.
In fact, they had celebrated yesterday right after she got the letter. Dressed up, dinner at a fancy restaurant followed by a hurried drive home consequently leading to grabby hands, lustful kisses and then the inevitable.
This morning she woke up happy, fucking ecstatic to be precise. She smiled at the beautiful Bradford boy sleeping like a rock in front of her. Eyes closed mouth slightly open, no frowns etched on his forehead.
His arms were wrapped around her waist, legs entangled. She fit perfectly in his arms as his warmth embraced her, her bare chest touching his; it all felt so divine to be held so closely yet so carefully by this godly man.
This man before her was her entire world. She knew that whatever she was today, it was all him, without him, she'd not have even dreamt of reaching here. Although he always denied, he said that all he did was give her a gentle push, the rest was all her doing.
She brought her right hand up to his cheek, running her thumb over that slightly parted bubble-gum lips of his. Sometimes it felt as if her heart could burst with all the love and affection she had for him, like right now.
She bent, pressing her lips against the winged lips tattooed to his sternum. He stirred wrapping his arms tighter around her.
