"Arch!"
I turned my head at the sound of Jeremiah's voice, placing down the papers I had in my hand as I watched him step into the room, "Jeremiah, hey. I'm just finishing up here. Apparently they made me a new suit? Ditched the old one- kinda disappointed. I liked that one."
"Trust me, you'll love the new suit. I might've had a little input into it's design so I did my best to base it around your interests," He grinned, before gesturing for me to follow him, "I'm actually here to get you to try it out. See how it fits, and any adjustments that we need to make."
"Quick question- is my face visible?"
His lips pursed before he hesitantly looked back to me, "Yes, but it'll be explained in further detail once you see it."
Jeremiah almost burning down the hotel we were staying at made Fury have us come back to base and take a break there.
That was not enjoyable at all.
But that was about two years ago. I've been on and off missions but have gotten another break from Fury. He, despite my complaints, put off the mission to find Louis Rose, waiting for another time to look for him.
I haven't mentioned it to Fury or Jeremiah at all, but today is my 18th birthday. It's weird to think that in 2010, I met SHIELD and they - kinda - saved me from Louis and his people. Then the 2012 alien invasion on Manhatten happened when I was 16.
Two years later and I'm still alive.
Mentally exhausted, yes. But physically still alive.
I followed Jeremiah through the twists and turns of the hallways in the building, before yawning, "So why are they making me a new suit exactly?"
"Stark complained about you taking the spotlight as the new 'Iron Man' so he requested we changed it."
"...You're kidding me, right?" I deadpanned, starring at the man with a dumbfounded expression, "He... That fucking shellhead! I told him straight on that I made that design before he became Iron Man, and he has the audacity to- UGH!"
"Calm down, Arch, it's no big deal-"
"It is a big deal to me! I made that suit, maybe while I worked for HYDRA, but I made it nonetheless! I have to get rid of it because of that egotistical-"
"And we're here!" Jeremiah cut me off, and I swore a sling of curses under my breath as I folded my arms, pouting as he opened the doors to the lab, "We made your suit out of the most durable material we could get our hands on. It can stretch, take hits pretty well, and is more fire resistant than most clothing."
I stared at the doors before opening them, seeing countless of items scattered across the brightly lit lab.
Off into the corner of the room, my attention laid on a costume stand, clad with a white, grey and black design. Large pockets sat on the waist of the costume, able to store anything that I would need. On top of the costume stand was a grey clear visor. I glanced back to Jeremiah, who stepped out of the lab, "Try it on."
I walked towards it as I heard the door shut behind me, looking at the suit in full detail.
I'll admit- it's pretty. I haven't seen something like that before. I pulled on the material, satisfied with how much it stretched. Glancing around to make sure no one was in the room, I then stripped out of my normal clothing, taking the costume off the stand and on myself.
It clung tight, but not too tight that it was uncomfortable. It felt just right to me. In my hands was the visor that was see through. They knew about keeping my identity a secret- and yet my visor was see through? It made no sense to me.
